Just bought a 07 VK Pro, great condition, 2000 miles, looks wonderful.
It has been sitting in the previous owner's hanger for a while on a battery tender. It started fine, test rode it, loved it.
Went back a couple of days later to buy it, started fine, rode it to the trailer, loaded and drove home.
Next morning, started fine, unloaded it off the trailer and parked it beside our garage. Went away for the day and when I came back at night, it started, sputtered and then died.
Now it just turns over and occasionally backfires.
I have added fresh fuel, checked all the obvious things (kill switch etc) and read the manual.
From reading on here, it seems possible I've flooded it.
I would remove the spark plugs and crank it as advised, if only I could find them...........................
Manual says there are 3, just not where Yamaha have actually hidden them.
Firstly, I'd be grateful for any further ideas on getting this thing going and secondly, if someone could tell me where the plugs are, and how to get to them (in the kindest, let's be nice to the technically incompetent donkey, way possible) I'd be grateful.
It's no wonder I prefer my dog team.

There should be a radiator that swings out of the way on top of the engine. No need to disconnect hoses. You can then reach in above the valve cover and disconnect wire that clip on to each of the three plug caps. These are actually coils and are expensive. Pull these caps up and off each plug. They do not remove easily...twist & pull up and eventually they come off. Then use your plug removal tool to unscrew the plug. Change all three and it should start...just do not use any choke until turning over the engine and then slowly bring in a little choke. This is a good proceedure for starting the VK in temps above 25F. If it is colder, you can put on 1/2 choke before cranking. Really cold, use full choke. Once it starts ease off the choke but keep the idle high with the correct amount of choke. The idle will drop when it is warmed up...then shut the choke off. I flooded my engine last year at this time and I hope I never do it again. As long as I am careful with the choke, this beast starts really well.
