Another subframe bites the dust.....need help!!!!!

agreed - straighten it out if you can & ride it till the new one comes in.

I'm still waiting on my stator, but it should be in this week. I feel your pain. I haven't ridden my nytro since Jan. 3rd. That's why I semi-jumped ship & bought a DOO!!

My local dealer says there are plenty avail from Yamaha, in stock and ready to ship. He's ordered and received a couple.

Before you do anything have your dealer double check the part number, 8GL-21940-01-00.

Great news!!!!! Last night while pissing and moaning to myself, I decided to call the Yamaha Customer Service. Low and behold my dealer called today to report that a subframe is on its way and I'll be up and running by the weekend. Just when I jumped the gun to blame Yamaha for my misfortune, they totally redeemed theirselves and came through. I gave my dealer a incentive to have my sled done by the weekend. A sheet pizza will be at the dealership on friday for getting me back on the trail this weekend.

Ilearned one thing out of this. Never doubt Yamaha again. World class customer relationship :yam:

We stopped counting bent sub-frames at 40. Seems like there's more to be added now.

40 you say..... that's 40 outa thousands & thousands of FX Nytros built. I'd say that's pretty good odds really. And how many of these 40 bent from impact, errr... I mean normal trail riding?

Some of us on here are honest & own up to the fact that he/she hit something. Which still baffles me how knowing that impact happened, it's your own fault, and yet blame Yamaha for the damage. And then there's the other side of the coin.....

They should be 09 subframes... AND Catman Is right if you wrecked it own up to it i just got mine back after clipping a tree and im ridden the Heck out of this thing in the ditches and fields Nothing bent yet so normal riding maybe im sure its mostly people.

The first time mine tweaked, I had wrecked. I was torn with internal conflict knowing I had stuffed the sled but feeling that I probably wouldn't have bent a trailing arm sled, but how can you prove that considering the rather large stuffing. At any rate, I straightened it out, braced it up a little and was happy with what I had. Not perfect but certainly rideable, as the TY ride guys can attest to.

The second tweak was completely due to the LARGE $#$^%^# rock I hit. If I hadn't of bent it last year, It would have with this hit, 100%!

I couldn't consciously try for warranty last year because I knew what had happened.

Considering the cost of A-arms, I'd rather bend the clip.....

Have there really been thousands and thousands of Nytros built? How many members here have Nytros? Over 40 bent subframes is quite a significant number in my opinion. A dozen would raise a few eyebrows.

There are several honest ones here who haven't hit anything and whose frames are bent. If you haven't bent yours, good for you.

You darn right thousands have been made. Yamaha produces about 40,000 snowmobiles anually worldwide. Dividing this number by an average of 14 versions of the Yamaha sled models, this is approximately 3,000 units of each version made. Assuming a few hundred more or less of each model version based on sales numbers. HOWEVER, every FX Nytro is the same chassis no matter the model version. So, really the truer numbers are closer to 10,000 per model. Then broken down into specific versions (I.E., R-TX,LTX,MTN, etc.) You get my point.

Obviously not every FX Nytro owner worldwide is on here, so let's say for arguements sake that 300 have bent. That's still only 10% of the total market. And 40 outa 3,000 is 1%.

Even at 10%, that's such a tiny number overall, it's no wonder that Yamaha isn't saying there's a possible problem.

I'm not doubting any bent one's. Heck, I seen one on eBay all twisted to $hit. Some of the bent ones you guys are VERY honest & say you hit something.

If there was a truthfull way to calculate the percentage of supposed non-impact bent VS total production number's, I'd bet that it would be 1/10ths or 1/100ths of a percent overall. But that will never happen. Especially internet story tellers.

No, in 1,000 miles I have not bent mine, nor do intend to. I do truthfully do normal trail riding. I don't launch mine off snowbanks, or go off marked trail only to strike rocks & stumps. If I would get to close to a tree & clip it with one ski & bend something, I will have nobody but myself to blame. Not Yamaha for a supposed inferior product.

it's not just the subframe that's weak - the a-arms are too. when I put in my new 09 front clip the shocks were still touching the upper a-arms. I never hit anything to tweak the a-arms, I DID hook a carbide on some train tracks at 5mph to cause major damage to the clip.

is it a pisspoor design - yes
are we a bunch of whiney buggers - yes
is yamaha taking care of SOME of us - yes
will I continue to buy yamaha products in the future - not sure

a better way to breakdown the nytro numbers is to do a poll like arteeex. but we need to know the number of people that were actually polled.

you know - like 40 people that were polled on TY had a busted azz front clip out of 250 people surveyed.

that # would probably be a good estimate as to the true # of casualties out there. not some lame azz 40000 sleds produced, 40 outta 3000 = 1% bent clip mumbo jumbo. do you know for a fact yamaha owns 25% of the sled market? I'd like to see the actual FACTS!

even some of the naysayers from last year are singing a different tune when it happens to them - Catman - you will be no different - trust me.
