My buddy gets his 04 Warrior back from the shop after replacing his jackshaft bearing. After about 40 miles I could smell rubber/slides burning. After about 90 miles he sees a pile of black crap by his left boot. We took the cover off for the clutches and it looked like somebody had blasted both inner sheaves of both clutches with buckshot. The seal from the jackshaft was floating between the frame and the secondary and the secondary would not float. The belt was down to about half the size of normal from the sheaves chewing the chit out of it. Another question, how do you tell if the jackshaft bearing is getting bad, I have 3300 miles on, now I'm getting nervous also. Any help would be appreicated. We are planning on leaving for Chapleau on Thursday, hope this doesn't happen in the North woods. #$%&* :o|

The sheaves being all messed up is strange. I don't understand how a belt being misaligned could cause this. Maybe if it got really hot?

Another reason why I do my own work!!

These bearings can last if you lubricate them, especially with a waterproof synthetic grease! AMZOIL has a very good grease for this!
My last sled a 700 V-Max had 7800 miles on it with all the original bearings in it when I sold it! ;)!

Yes, Gilbey it's the local establishment, and good luck to you. He didn't notice the problem because he was riding at mid pack at around 60 MPH. He noticed when he got out front, running 80+.

Sounds like something got sucked in to the belt and it went around the clutches. Had a friend with a ZR600 a couple of years ago, have that little cable/clutch cover clip thing get sucked into his. Boy, want to talk about ruind a clutch!
