Good luck with it Rockerdan! Post up how its working for you if its allowed. Your help on this site has been appreciated. Sounds like you have a great running RTX, maybe a comparison of the two?

Dan The Man ROCKERDAN. My "new" '07 GT really runs hard so 1 more year for me. I'll get ahead financially this year & next year i"ll buy new. Please report because I've "known" you for years now & you"ll be honest. Maybe 1 year on Cat for improvements or Yamaha might do something also. I'm jealous & curious.

Hi guys,
thanks for the replies and opinions...
First off let me be clear,i am not leaving my beloved yammie faithful,LOL....I have been riding my 06 apex rtx since 06 when i bought it new(came from 15 yrs of machs),and ever since then loved the amazing belt life, incredible 4 stroke 4 cyl motor cant be beat, and many many other things about the sled. This is why im glad its been paid for,and will not be traded or sold....many have offered to buy my sled cause its always been a rocket with my tweaking. But it will always stay in my stable.
Most the reasons im trying the new cat are more cause ive been wanting to either add a SC or Turbo to my apex for a long time....I tried the bottle for a while and that didnt work so well. Ive followed the turbo forums for many yrs,and its alot of money and tuning and tinkering for the most part.
and, honestly i sorta would like to have a new sled that is different then my apex,so i can have something else to ride from day to day.....even tho Ive solved my slide wear issue many seasons ago,it will be nice to ride a sled that(supposedly) doesnt go thru sliders like a stock apex can in low snow.
also, ive tried buds sleds(not yammies) that actually have bar warmers that will make your hands sweat even on the coldest day....and yes i have a yamheater which is the best, and helps 100% but still my hands can be alot colder then lets say a polaris rush bars.
So,the best thing here is i will learn to love(or hate) another sled.....but first and foremost a 4 stroke(suzuki die hard motor) and a stock turbo with 2 yrs warrantee and then i can up the boost for under 1000 dollars to get it into the 250+hp range safely.
to get my apex to those HP ratings would cost 6-8 grand minimally with alot of tinkering to get it done.
anyway,i know there are lots of apex faithful that learned all their turbo stuff on an apex...and are now gonna try the new cat. it should be a fun season next year.
the new procross chassis has set a record for spring orders for cat, more sleds ordered this spring then ever for them so i hear. love the fact the new cat turbo has shed 70+ lbs. and apparently feels 150lbs lighter then the last yrs pig z1 turbo.
here is a weight rundown.

Just as light as the four-stroke 1200 Doo when adding the turbo. I'm in on the spring order Dan. I'll give it a try again without the Diamond Drive and the excess weight. Tried the 2011 Apex XTX this last winter as well, it didn't stay in my lineup too long. Hopefully the Cat performs or it will be out the door too.

Newbie
I just came over to the blue camp after over a decade of riding cats, and as much as i liked the ride and handling of my 07 Z1, i dont know if i will ever be buying green again, ESPECIALLY NOT a first year of a new platform. The 1100 engine was great, good enough that talked a fellow cat guy into getting a Z1 turbo in 2010, but the servicing on those sleds was an absolute NIGHTMARE!!! can only imagine what they will be like to work on having shed the weight, mostly (by the looks of things) by shoe horning everything into a smaller space under the hood. Good luck with the new turbo, am sure it will be a blast to drive!
a friend of mine had a o7 Z1 had to get the motor replace because of oil leaking out of the bottom end he now rides a 2 stroke cat.icarus193 said:I just came over to the blue camp after over a decade of riding cats, and as much as i liked the ride and handling of my 07 Z1, i dont know if i will ever be buying green again, ESPECIALLY NOT a first year of a new platform.
