Wondering about trying this option when I get a new track, I'm looking for some experiences from guys who tried it. How long did you go 128, 136, tipped 144 with what track, what were the results with ride, speed gains or loses? I mostly do trail riding with lakes and river runs. I'm not looking for alternate suspensions suggestions here guys, no offence.

I did my '07 apex rtx and I would never go back to a 121''. I did a 136'' with a muffin works extension and it fit very well.

I was thinking about going with a 136 next year. My dad attak rides so much smoother than mine. How hard of a job is it?

chadman- Did you change any shock valving? Did you see any improvement in top end?
I stretched my 07 rtx to a 136 cobra from tracks usa. I highly recommend it. From a standstill hookup is night and day better than stock ripsaw 121. I used to never want to race anyone unless conditions were perfect, now im in with anyone in just about any conditions. I would say i probally lost 5 mph on top though. Its hard to say for sure since i havent touched my clutches in 7600 miles, so that could be a little of it. For ride i would say the longer rail does ride a little better because of the bridging effect, but not as much as i thought it would be. I think it feels a little stiffer than before, wich i thought would be the oppisite going to the longer track. I had my shocks revalved by pioneer once and recently by hygear to soften the ride a little. Pretty happy with the results. I only weigh about 170 so your situation might be different. Im going after the smoothest ride i can get not to concerned with ditchbanging anymore.Instalation was pretty easy if you have any mechanical ability. Grinding off some rivets and installing new ones on tunnel extension is probably most complicated part. Rails were pretty east install. I would say i did lose a little stearing accuracy but nothing i cant live with. I to have pilots with snowtrackers. Good luck with what you decide doing.

Did you have to lengthen your tunnel with the 136? I have a rear heat exchanger on mine and am wondering about clearance at the back when the suspension collapses, that is why I was thinking possibly a 128" 1.22 Ice attack XT, to try and shed some track weight.
yes i had to extend my tunnel with 136. You wouldnt have to with 128. Since i didnt see a big change in ride with the longer track you might have good results with just a 128,especially traction wise.

I had my skid shocks revalved a year or 2 before I extended it and I have not changed anything. it hooks up very well and I have a better top end. I also kept the stock gearing. It was very easy to install and I put a tunnel ext. on from muffin works. They are very good guys to deal with.

I'm wondering if I'll gain any ground on my buddy's mono if I go with a longer skid and lighter track. (as in, catch up a bit!!)

The year before I did the extension my dad would pull away from me on his 2010 apex gt. There is no way he can do that now. The apex has so much power and with a 121 skid you spin to much, the 136 doesn't take anything away from the performance of the apex you make bigger gains.
