Last year I heard of 06 Attaks chain case leaking or blowing out gaskets.I bought a new 07 gear case and cover and seals but never installed them.Is it worth replacing, as the dealer will not take them back now. I am selling the sled but not sure whether to do the upgrade or sell the new case parts??

Mine leaked last year 07 GT, it was the seal. Dealers here said they never saw that. So much so, that they did not even have the seal in stock.

I have issues now
Because of the info on the site, I was keeping an eye and a nose out, for any type of smell or leak.
At one point, I thought I could smell gear oil.
I pulled the dipstick, and no oil.
I carried some chaincase oil with me and filled it back up. I didn't see any fluid in the side panels, but there was a light oily haze over the hood of my sled.
I called my dealer and told them that I would be needing the chaincase cover update.
I took the sled to the mechanic today and asked him to look everything over well.
He called me back and said the oil was black and sludgey and a bearing was out of it.
He is going to rip it apart tomorrow and see how the rest looks.
Crap, I wanted to ride this weekend!!

I have had it leak some before. I glued the gasket to the inner case. I find it has less of a chance for the rubber to get sucked inward, which worked for me. I suppose cleaning the surfaces real well and adding a small bead of silicone to the outside of the gasket before putting he outer cover on, would hurt either.

I did the updated case to my 06' RTX as well as venting the dip stick a little better according to prior posts. I'm headed to the Gaspe this year and this (chaincase issue) is my only concern. My buddy had a friend last year on an 06 GT lose his chaincase at the Gaspe...not fun.

Vented the dipstick, no probs yet.
Check the archives. There were tons of posts about this two years ago. I was the first to report it. It seems that at prolonged high speed runs, the gasket gets sucked into chaincase.
A dealer in Quebec fixed mine but didn't have a gasket so he put silicone on my gasket and put in synthetic oil. Over 7000 miles later and no problems.
BUT - I don't push it on those 20 mile rail beds either. No fun when that oil starts oozing down the running board...
