Last weekend my apex started to ratchet bad, put in garage and thawed it out. found nothing broke. track was not to loose. To stop it from ratcheting i had to tighten it up so that when on a lift the drive lugs hung down even with lower section of slides. Now i feel track is to tight and burning my slides off. Anyone had anything similar happen? If so what was the fix? By the way stock ripsaw with 192 stud down the middle with 4300 miles on it.

Yes, some people have had the problem and they installed anti-ratchet drivers. I know that Nos-Pro has done this on his Attak.

Why some and not others? My father has super charger on his 06 gt and his track hangs down 3 inches and dous'nt ratchet.

This is my 4th season fighting that problem. The best thing I did was add SLP anti wear pads to the track. I can run the track a little tighter without increasing the slide wear. Other than that, I try to keep the track tight enough that it only ratchets under full throttle in good traction conditions. I keep a 19 mm and a 14mm socket & ratchet with me to adjust on the trail. One more reason I'll be ordering a Skidoo this spring.

I had ratcheting probs w/ my Attak.
Anytime I was in loose snow pow or even from a dead stop and hammering the throttle it would ratchet.
Nothing was wrong w/ the skid no worn bushings, no loose or missing bolts or anything wrong w/ the rear skid.
Installed Whal bros. extro's. Ratcheting gone!!!
Some of the side +'s of the extros. I had gone though 2 tracks because all the track clips were gone. On the first one NOS-PRO was the one to point out all my clips were missing when we were rolling my sled upright.
Yamaha was really good about it they paid for 2 new tracks and the install.
After talking with the people at Camoplast. This is the thinking of what was going on. I had to have my track so tight so it would not ratchet even over tight. Then when the skid would get compresed it would over tighten the track streching it. To the point the clips would loosen and come off.
It was not caused by lowsnow conditions. On the second track I lost the clips in 70 miles of off trail riding.
Now w/ the extros 1200 miles of trail/offtrail and all the clips are there. Can run the track super loose and NO ratcheting.
Install the Whal Bros extroverts and enjoy the rest of the season. Richmotor Sports usually has them in stock.
You will need a shop press to press the old drivers off and press the new extros on.
You may have to bring the axle to your dealer to do this if no press is available.

If i go with the extrovert such as i have on my viper i would have to purchase a new fully clipped track. I know this sounds crazy but has anyone cut the windows open and added track clips to a stock track. Also is a apex drive shaft the same as whats in a viper?

The track does not need to be fully clipped. HOWEVER all the windows HAVE TO be OPEN
I do not think the viper axle will fit the Apex. If you have the extroverts on the Viper axle you can repress them onto the Apex shaft.

So i burned a set of slide up in 200 miles because of track being so tight. So I started to inspect my suspension and found my pivot arm was bent, I installed a new one and problem fixed no more racheting.
