any tips for removing y pipes off muff pipe on 06 apex

I am replacing both y pipes but after removing both clamps at the y pipe they will not seperate .Ihave the muffler loose from its hangers ,4 clamps off at the flex pipe to y connection and the both y pipes are still bolted to the hangers . any suggestions

I'd personally leave the bolt for the Y pipes in....and only have the rear muffler and 2 clamps for the rear muffler loosened..then give it a good yank from the tail pipe and muffler. Sometimes it is on there pretty good. Give it some wiggles up and down and back n forth. It'll come.

I just did this to my sled. There is a heat shield which the y-pipes are connected to between the tunnel and the pipes. There are two bolts with allen key heads which connect the y-pipes to the heat shield. These were really hard for me to break loose. A lot of people say they heat the bolts up but I just drilled the heads out because I am not reinstalling that heatshield/bracket. But in order to get these pipes to come off that bracket you have to slide the y-pipes towards the front of the sled to get them to unhook from this heatshield/bracket. I found that unbolting the rear suspension and having someone lift the tunnel up so I could get underneath helped a lot.

Just to clarify....remove seat, remove the gas tank, remove rear heat shield for muffler (four 10mm bolts), then remove four 12mm bolts that are securing the muffler to the chassis, then pop out the two rubber grommets on top of the tunnel (under gas tank), then loosen two two 12mm bolts on exhaust clamps (one on right/one on left). Once those clamps are loose..pull the muffler out from the rear.....

Then follow the suggestions on removing the Y pipes after the rear muffler is pulled.

yeah but one thing to check before you unbolt everything is the two allen key bolts you need to removed near the front of the y-pipes. They tie the y-pipes to the top of the tunnel. I would try and get these two bolts loose before unbolting everything else. In my case they were so rusted and heat treated on that I had to drill them out. after you get those two bolts out then removed the muffler and loosen the clamps on the headers. From underneath the tunnel take the left y-pipe out first (left looking at the rear of the sled) then the right. You will have to push the y-pipes like I said earlier towards the front of the sled then out the back... they have a little hook then there you ahve to get undone. The below picture sure where the allen head bolts are located underneath the rubber gromets.
