I'm wondering if any MTX owners have tried the RMK gripper skis? They look like they'd be a good ski. I want something easier steering than my C&A XT's andless aggressive than PowderPros. I like the SLP SLT skis but they're narrow. Grippers seem to fit the bill as long as the spindle position isn't too far forward or back. Any thoughts?

agreed on the aggressiveness of the skis. It sure does make spring and hard pack riding a chore sometimes. A friend of mine with a nytro went to the regular C&A race skis. He likes them as they are less aggressive then stock.

As to the grippers, a friend of mine had them on his skidoo rev and he liked them. When my skis finally bite the dust I think I will try a pair. I like the ability to walk on the skis.

Cut the keel down on your XT's. The CA xtx ski is just a XT with a half inch shaved of the keel. I am pretty happy with my XTX s.

I cut the keels down in the middle of winter and they're still a little too aggressive. It's just the nature of having such a flat ski I think.

Back on the ski topic, has anyone tried MODS skis on a Nytro? I couldn't find any useful info searching TY but all the reviews on snowest and BCR are positive with comments of easy steering and good handling in deep snow. Might have to be a Nytro test dummy for these.

I have installed MODS on my 08 nytro last summer but had little time to really put to a test. But with what miles i have done Im very happy, dont have to white knuckle it on trails.

MOD Skis

Nikoli- I used the MOD skis all last season. Liked them for the elimination of darting with good results. I will be setting up my wife's REV with the same skis this season. They flex just enough to create a softer feel in the rough and pretty good improvement over the stock for floating in the deep. They are very simular to the old Ekstrom skis on my old '85 ca'doo. I've enclosed some pics.
Drop me a line if you want a contact- they cost me about $490.00.

Have you considered Slydog powderhounds, they are wide and not that agressive?

Had Powderhounds on my Rev and didn't like how they handled. I've also seen them fold over backwards in heavy wet pow which I don't like.

I think I'll probably try the Grippers first if I can find a cheap set somewhere.
