Anybody tried an Ice Ripper track?

Has anybody tried an Ice Ripper track yet? I have 144 studs in my RipSaw right now, but I am considering a supercharger, and I know I would need more studs. I don't want the extra weight of 240+ studs, ao I was just thinking about this track. I know it has a ton of pics in it, but I would like some feedback first!!

IMO these are not going to give you traction like a traditional stud will...I agree with you on the weight of studs...

I feel the best setup is to go with smaller lug track ,therefore a shorter stud(less studweight)...I have no problem hooking up my predator just as good as any ripsaw ive run with....and the less overal weight is why i can walk away from 60mph on up....

rotating mass is a huge player in the mph game as we all know...If you hold a bag of 1.325 GDs(96) in one hand and a bag of 1.175 GDs(96) in other hand,you would be surprised at how much lighter the 1.175s are....this is yet another reason the predator makes more speed time and time again...machs come with them stock,and they sure come outa the hole...I really am not sure why everyone jumped on the ripsaw wagon,im glad I never fell for it..too gummy,slow track.

I have an ice ripper track and love it. But no it does not hook up as good as regular studs. And with a supercharger I believe you would be spinning on ice all the time.
 
i have ice rippers on wifes vector and my attak, for general trail riding they are great.... if you are into drag racing go with traditional studs, if you want a bit better acceleration and much better stability and braking, the ice ripper rocks.
 
Well, I don't have that many miles on my sled (800), and have just put studs in it at 750 miles, so if I do anything, I may sell my track this summer and got to something like the predator. DOes the shorter lug have any negative affects in deeper snow? I'm not talking about boondocking, but in Iowa we ride what we have, and if we get a good snow (6"???), I don't want to just sit and spin in that either. I know alot of older sleds have the shorter lugs, but they didn't have the power either, especially if I supercharge.

a buddy of mine was going to put a ice ripper on his mach, just before putting the first hole in it i noticed writting on the track and it said do not stud this track, so he got another track. these tracks are not made for big H P sleds.
 
I have the Ice ripper and have ridden in icy conditions IE: icy logging roads and corners in trail.It does provide a small degree of grip and thats all.I could whip the sled sideways at anytime (BIG YAMAHA HP) LOL. I know studs u can still spin it but u dont lose it or have the feeling of it getting away from u.As for trails being a little cautious i had no problem but also knew that i didnt have studs and could tell the first ride on sled so adapted right away.IMO i need studs also for traction (hole shot) and they help tremendously for stopping even in snow.U may be able to use 96 studs with the Ice ripper and save some weight that way.But i dont think it will be enough and most likely go with a new track set up as machzed has mentioned or 121 or 144 with ice ripper to get my money`s worth for now but the new ATTACK GT or what ever they release in 08 will be different set up.
 
I have 6000 miles on two ice rippers on Attaks 06 & 07. Greatrail riding setup. IMO about the same hookup as light studding(108 regular studs) Less weight and doesn't affect track waranrty. About the same cost on track swap. I'll have another one in 08 depending on sled i choose.
 
The Rage I just bought has an unstudded 1.5 paddle. Off trail is amazing. Then I jumped on an icy road and it wouldn't hook (Obviously) but when I did gain some speed I needed to stop; holy feakin cow................It's been a loooonnnngggg time since I rode a sled without studs. Accelleration is one thing, but stopping is another :ORC
 
Wouldn't have a sled that wasen't studded somehow. Not safe where we ride. Ice ripper is great solution should be standard on sleds.
 
Very well said studdog, I agree I like what u have in in your sig wish more people would relize It. The Ice ripper still isnt quiet enough but still helps out and as i said previous u have to remember when rideing to adapt to conditions and for set up IMO But its better than no studs
 
Nate.....

I jump on buddies ripsaw tracked sleds all the time..and I can tell you...you wont notice any differences in traction between ripsaw and predator....I never have ever...IMO the ripsaw was a PLOY to sell tracks..LOL...too soft,too gummy..they ratchet twice as easily cause balloon easier....just too soft for this much HP IMO.

ANYONE i know whos gone to a predator has always LOVED that decision....have never had someone say they liked rip better....full clips help with slider wear and top speed..open windows let more snow in,use the thin sliders and voila!..all those problems the apexs are known for are cured simply by adding the predator.

and you gain 2-3mph top end too boot!
