I have an o3 RX-1 mountain and the skid has no transfer at all. Anybody have any luck with MPI transfer enhancement kit? Is it tough like stock setup and does it make it ride better or worse? Thanks.

Highmiler, I installed the kit on my 03 RX-1M early on in 03. It was a quick and inexpensive way to save a few pounds. Yes it certainly helped with transfer but (at least in my case) I started to have track ratcheting issues as soon as the kit was installed. I know it's hard to believe but even with extroverts I couldn't get the ratcheting to quit. It wouldn't stop until I changed to a M7 rear skid. I think the uncoupling of the rear skid with the removal of the transfer rods may have been the culprit?

It may have been just me with these issues but I thought I'd pass on my experiences.

I put it on my '01 Mountain Max, helped the front end come up on plane better in deep stuff. I also found it helped on very rough, ungroomed trails. On badly beaten trails with lots of close moguls, the coupled suspension wants to "slap" when you go over mogels fairly slowly, beats you up and sounds like it's tearing the sled apart. Decoupling the suspension eliminated that by letting the skid pivot. There were only a few stretches of trail where I saw this but it made a big difference. Suspension is the same on the '03, I'm also swapping in the M7.

I put one on my 04 and it helped the transfer a lot. Luckily I didn't get the ratcheting issue. I think this is one of the better mods for the RX. It is only $50, saves 5 #'s and works good.
