BADSLED said:What the heck do you need that for? Th nice thing about Yamaha secondary is you can get a nice grip on the helix and twist it to remove and install new belt. I love to see my Doo buddies drop their jaws and watch me when I do this or change the helix.. They simply can't believe how easy it is..
exactly, by the time you take out the belt changing tool I would have my old belt out and new belt in. my buddies with the other brands that have seen me change out a belt are amazed how easy it is.

I'll gladly pay $30 to simply turn a small lever vs cutting up my hands, ruining my Klim gloves & possibly jacket sleeves with grease and wasting even more time & effort out on the trail....and I'm not sure the conditions outside on the trail are the same as inside a heated garage with good lighting (per the many videos on youtube for changing yammy belts) just saying, to each their own..

if you have greese anywere near your clutch sheaves you either have a problem or you have too much grease in your bearings. ive changed belts out on the trail in -15f, its the easiest belt change in the industry. its cool if you want to change a belt this way I just think its unnecessary thing to buy when that money can be used to buy an extra tank of gas or upgrade to gloves that dont have a chance to ruin when your doing a belt change. but as you said to each his own

grease was a poor choice of words, I meant the typical black soot/grime/crap every engine area seems to aquire over time...

Belt tool
I just installed it because changing your belt at -30c is not fun and yes my Klim gloves will get wrecked as I have been there. This tool is simple and effortless. I keep it in my saddlebags as yes I will blow a belt and the same reason Skidoo has this to make it simple.
Best practice is to switch belt every 2500 km as I was advised to stop scoring of the primary.

I also have this tool and love it. My only concern is that it scrapes shavings off the secondary every time its used.

I've thought about this too, perhaps we could add a small rubber cap to it before it touches the secondary metal?
