I haven't even ridden my new Apex yet and I'm hearing of darting problems. I plan on installing some 8in Executives and either 144 or 168 studs before I even hit the snow.

Take a look at this tech tip at the link below. Very inexpensive solution to darting problems.

Been there, done that, still not as easy or smooth and dart free as dual runners.

I have an Attak. First time out was yesterday and mine is darting badly. Not sure if I should go with dual carbides or try the shims.
Be sure to check the ski alignment - should be 1/4 inch toed-out with the clearance taken out of the system. I attach a rubber bunjie cord between the ski tips (slight tension) when I measure the alignment.

I might be asking alot but does anyone have any pics of the mod? I want to make sure I understand it. I think my plan will be to make the shims, tap a couple small holes and bring them with me on my first ride. If I dart, I'll whip them in trailside.
Thanks

I would just do the shims in your garage and get it over with. There are so many people that have done this successfully.
You can see some pictures of it at the link below.

There's a reason the shim trick is in the tech pages at TY. It's because it works! Give it a try - it's free. Dual carbides will also reduce darting - but they push in the corners and rob you of speed.

I agree with your statement of dual carbides pushing in corners, but damn they are smooth, in all conditions !! I use to shim my skis, learned that in 97 from my Yamaha dealer!!

Yep, doolies tend to push in the corners. Trust the other members on this and shim the skis. Nobody believes something so simple will work until after they have tried it.
