Anyone remove the anti-bottoming from rear skid

I removed them from my Vector and seemed to help. Didn't seem to bottom out anymore than with it on.

My Nyto came from the factory without the bottom stopper. Different rear shock though. Don't bottom out much with that sled.

If you're talking about the anti-bottoming stoppers on each of the slide rails.....yes I removed mine altogether. This eliminated the "kick-back" I was recieving on bumpy trails.

Be careful though, if you hit a major mogul, or a large ditch at the bottom of a hill you WILL bottom out HARD. I stiffened up the spring preload on my front track shock to help ease this. I also like to stand when I see a major hit coming anyways.

Worth a try to try it out each way. I don't think they come on the '06's anyway but I could be mistaken. Mine's still installed on the rails, but I have moved them to the forward "soft" setting to reduce the harshness. This slows it down before it hits the non adjustable rail stops. I have also replaced the rear shock which is a bigger help.

The "kickback" on the ProActive skid would not be there on the '05's if they had put something better than a $5 rear track shock on.

Put on any gas shock, have it valved right, and your kickback is GONE. BUT, I'm not a member of the Yamaha Internet Promotion Team, so don't believe me!

I've checked out 5 posts on this board this morning and all I have seen is you running off at the yap. What's your bag?

I am simply tired of people I call the "Yamaha Internet Promotion Team" telling people who have issues with their sleds that there's nothing wrong with this sled. In essence, we are making this all up. We're newbie snowmobilers (I only have 40k+ miles on in my life) and we don't know any better. These people know it all and we shouldn't dare say anything else.

That's my bag, and if you don't like it, don't read ANY of my posts, which are not ALL bad. I do try to help..i.e. my above post about a gas shock. My posts about where you can have a good shock made for the skid (Deycore). I can list more but I'm going riding! ;)!

I removed mine it seem's to be better.

On Oak Hills suggestion, I removed mine right from the get go. Now that I have the Nytro shock in, I just might try it with it in the softest spot.

There are just about as many different suspension setup preferrences as there are riders. The way one of us swears is the best does not suit other riders. Some are happy with the way the skid is setup "out of the box", others adjust to their liking and are happy, while some choose to swap out the skid altogether. All part of the sport. Try changes, mark down what you did in case you need to go back, and try to reach a point where you are happy with it.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, like it or not. Try not to be offensive about it.

What do you know.....we may actually agree on something......Hmmm, maybe I'm coming down with the flu.

Oh, you will be.....you will be. Don't worry Moe, we know where he lives. 8)

I do agree with your view on the rear skid shock and kick back. If you put your stoppers back on in the soft position, let us know what you think about how the sled feels with them on vs. off now that you have a good rear shock. I left mine on in the soft position and the Ohlins stopped the kick back that they caused. Over large bumps I think the stoppers do a good job of slowing the travel down on the soft setting before the final stops come in contact.

I had mine on soft before I took them out I als have nytro rear and center dprings and a rear ohlin shock so mine might act differently than yours.
