Got two recalls to take care of. Been holding off bringing it in thinking there was going to be additional recalls over the summer. No sense dragging the thing in twice. Turns out my assumption was correct.
Now that haydays is here, its reminded me how close sledding season is. Will wait some more but thinking now is a pretty slow time for dealer service. Could probably get it in, get it done right and get it back rather quickly. Probably even be able to chat it up with the service manager without being rushed out cuz there so flippin busy.
Sure would be nice if the re-flash would come out. Maybe it did and I missed it. You would surely think they addressed it on the 2015's
During the chaincase recall I am considering having the gear lube changed at the same time. Anything else you can think of that needs attention while they are in there?

nope you haven't missed a dealer re flash, sounds like EVO will have a flash out before yamaha or cat does as its just about finished. Supposed to net big HP numbers and rid the viper of the current ECU problems it is suffering from. We're all waiting like kids for xmasGot two recalls to take care of. Yes not a word from Yamaha. While it's in there have them go through the coolant hose clamps also. Look for any rub spots. Check bolts for torque. Steering stem block, pyramid spars and anything else they can get a wrench and loctite on.

Talked with a Yamaha rep at Haydays. He says to expect a re-flash sometime in October or November. Don't shoot the messenger...just what he said. The guy was knowledgeable of previous issues. Clamps, exhaust, the reverse thing...

So the question then is do the production '15 units have the updates or is there going to be a production break that gets the updates from factory and the early ones need update?

According to what I understood is that there will be a reflash for all. So I would take that as the 15's have not yet had the reflash. Or at least the ones that are already out.

So what are your guys opinions on getting this reflash if u have a turbo? Mpi's kit has now had roughly a full year of testing and tuning if not more, using this screwy ecu.. Are there going to be enough changes that would in anyway jeopardize a turbo sled? It sounds great but I think for myself I'd like to wait until a company comes out with a tune specific to the turbo sleds to cure the issues and make more power at the same time..the evolution flash sounds great for a stock sled but the last thing you want to do with a turbo sled is give it more timing so that's out.

I went to the Yamaha camp first thing in the morning and overheard the reflash talk amongst the dealers and reps. Shortly after I stopped near them I was asked to leave because they were having "an official private dealer meeting". Here's an idea, if you going to talk about things you don't want your paying customers to hear, move the meeting 20 feet into the trailer. They already got my money so I guess they no longer need to speak to me. Very unprofessional.

Just my opinion but Yamaha has been designing every product for the past 2 years around the current ecu.
I cant imagine that they made any ecu changes that would create an issue for their current sled owners.
They have a full line of mountain turbos this year based on the old ecu and just released a flatland turbo through mpi based off the current ecu.
I agree you dont want that evo reflash in your turbo.
I have a big concern that you get the evo reflash and 2 years down the road you send your sled in for a service, say maybe an oil change and they run your vin and see you never had the yamaha reflash.
The dealer decides he is doing you a favor and reflashes your ecu, wiping out your flash from evo.
Now you have to get that mess straightened out.

Its not as much unprofessional as it is just stupid.
Send out a notice before haydays to your dealers stating whats going on and when it will happen, then every one is on the same page and no one is discussing corporate plans and decisions in front of customers.
Every dealer that sells sleds now has the exact same answer for their customers.
Its simple stuff that gets screwed up in a major way once it reaches the big business levels.

Would be nice to know if it is a yamaha flash or arctic cat flash..if I knew for sure that it's reprogramming it to the same settings as the nytro I wouldn't hesitate..but at the same time, there will be companies that are going to come out with a turbo specific flash to give us more power and reliability so prolly the best bet is to wait for that. I'm sure this new flash has been tested on turbo sleds..but I'm not going to risk it on mine until I see proof that it has been
