Apex/Attack weight loss

Let me know, when you want to come and I'll show you what a fast groomed trail is, big wide and fast sweeping corners, or we can ride some short twisties if you really want too. It don't matter to me. Besides all that, the scenery is just awesome.

I would love to ride Ontario. I just don't want to drive there. I live in southern MN. I've told my group for years we should spend a week up there. Where's the best places to stay/ride/nightlife?

Sorry this is really getting off track.

Well, remember these are all small cities/towns so Night life can be good or smoewhat to be desired, but I need to know your trip plan before I can tell you the best places to go.

Well this post kind of got off track, but going back to the topic, I agree with those who say you can't tell the difference. But then I also admit I have not really thought about it as I was riding. In fact, I have never even thought about the weight, so at least to me it must not be an issue. From the first time I drove my 03 RX-1 I never once thought "man I love this but I sure wish it was lighter". Never even thought about it, just rode it and loved it. Especially after putting in the M-10. The first time I thought about weight is when some Yamaha basher asked me what I thought of the weight of the slow heavy one ton. I told him it was neither and that I loved it. That is the first time I even thought about the weight.

Now I also admit I am not a rough trail rider. When the trail gets rough, I take the lake. I hate rough trail riding. I like going fast on a smooth trail or across a lake or down a river. Where I ride in northern Minnesota you can go from Ely to International Falls (about 150 miles) on lakes and rivers, never getting on a trail. It is the best riding and the best scenery you will ever encounter. But you don't need a ditch banger.

Why rx-1 owners can't feel the difference between Full and 1/4 tank is that when riding with other people riding other brands the rx-1 owners fill up their tanks at the same time as the others do, hence they have never been at 1/4 tankfull and therefore can't really tell if they feel any difference in weight because of lack of experience rinding the sled with little gas onboard. :tg: :ORC

Could be true.

I usually ride until near empty on a days ride and I do not feel much of a difference at the end of a days riding. Actually I feel that the sled feels lighter at the end of a day even with a full tank due to the fact that my body is fully warmed up and riding skills is at its best after noon. I always ride faster on my way home... could this only be me or is someone else experiencing this.

Absolutely true!

The '05 MachZ weights the same as a '05 RX-1 without gas. Tank capasity of MachZ larger than RX-1 MachZ heavier ready to go.

Is this true?

I agree rx. I had a 03 rx-1. I like to skip the stations when I can(why lug aroung all that gas??) I rode the Z last year. When I got back on my rx-1 it felt like I had power steering. I'm no wimp at 6'5 240, but the rx-1 felt a lot lighter and was more of a pleasure for mid-week aggressive trail riding.

I can only speak for me and ever person I've ever ridden with "we can't feel the difference". I've asked many people this same question and I always get "I cannot tell the difference".[/quote]

:tg: Geez, u guys cannot even tell the difference between coke and pepsi, and u think u can tell if the tank is half full or not? :?
If u spent ten days or more a month sledding, u can tell the difference as it affects the handling and if u are leaning or boondocking a lot, the weight difference with less fuel sloshing around is very apparent. If your tank is less than six gallons, then it is harder to tell but still noticeable...Try grabbing a full can vs. a half can in each arm and try to balance them...It is all in how much time you spend in your machine...plus we have no groomed trails where it would be harder to notice your fuel levels... :flag:

The Machz weight is 529 with out es and the Rx1 Apex is 551 with reverse. Remeber the Machz is a Ferrari for the snow. Hey Apex21 did your 1 ton have reverse? If not your arms should be strong enuff to turn a Machz , if u could flop a Rx1 ton pig around on a trail. :ORC Oh ya it has a 10.6 gallon tank.

Skidoo10, Get your facts straight before you start shooting your mouth off about weight. The Mach is 529lbs without Electric Start. Electric Start is a standard option on the Apex. The Electric start is where the extra weight is. Add another, atleast, another 15lbs onto the Mach Z and your are pretty much even within only a couple of lbs. So, what would you rather own a two stoke that will blow up in 7000 miles or less or a 4stroke that will last from 20-30000 miles and the 4stroke is very smooth compared to the two stoke. Let alone all the other benefits to it. Do your homework.....

Skidoo10, What I can't understand is why anyone would take a two-stroke sled that weighs the same as a four stroke with no advantages of the four stroke. I personally could care less how much the sled weighs but since we're talking about it I thought I would put in my two cents.

The Machz is lighter, more hp, faster , quicker, turns better, and handles bumps better. Ive never rode an apex so im just going by Amsnow new review. :D

Skidoo10 All weight and performance advantages WERE marginal, refer to your own chart. Now consider 06 improvements and we're all looking forward to meeting you on the trail or the lake, that is if you actually have a sled. Or maybe you'll be busy changing fouled plugs or getting new rings.

Re: Mark Boncher "High Powered Handlers " right up

jtssrx,
Yes, the Mach holds a line - at high speeds - a bit better than the Apex, in my opinion. (you've really got to put them through the paces to see the difference though.)
Turning radii are comparable, but I felt the Apex is an easier turn. Both are incredible sleds and the riding position of the new Apex is incredibly comfortable.
You just can't deny the Ferrari like performance of the Mach Z though. Man, that thing is fast for a stocker!

Im just going by what someone who has ridden both sleds thinks.
