I take both clutches completely apart each season and check everything while I am cleaning. Pay special attention to the plastic "buttons" in the secondary and the rollers in the primary.

I'm changing the buttons and the 2 bushings in the secondary right now. Also the primary cover bushing.
The bushings are wore alot, but this is the first I've replaced anything on the clutches in 13,000 miles. Besides new springs once.

2nd that, the bushings in the secondary are prone to wear out of spec QUICK, if you start noticing some bogging after some hard braking track lock-up 'cause of secondary not fully shifting out its usualy a sign of worn bushings, its binding...otherwise use COMPRESSED air and keep them clean.
I take mine to a buddy of mine to get them "DE-GLAZED" he sets them up on a lath and takes all the marks and ridges out with different types of sandpapers on sheaves and they look like new afterwards and keeps belt slippage to a minimum, Ill take pics when he's doing them tomorrow and I'll post them for you to see...

I have an 06 Apex ER w/4000 miles on. I noticed some grooving on the inside of the primary clutch outer sheave (where the spider slides). Is this kinda common, keep an eye on it, or do I need a new clutch? I have had this sled for 1 yr now and put on 400 miles.
I use Comet dry lube on all the moving/sliding parts.
