APEX Clutching

Our Ulmer Racing Stage 2 kit has a nice low engagement for nice easy slow speed driving with good low end acceleration, mid range, and an average gain of 3-4 mph on top end. The biggest thing is the quick backshifting and fun factor increase. If you want a kit for strictly drag racing, we can supply a kit for that. Just remember our kits are designed for the average trail rider who might ride at 20 mph with his wife or kids and the next weekend go out blasting the trails with his buddies. We can tailor anything to a specific need as well. We tried to make our general kits so it would work well and be easy to drive at all speeds of riding. I would recommend a 23 tooth gear and windage plates for the guy looking for corner to corner acceleration. Also I would recommend 144 studs for either our Stage 1 or 2 clutch kits.

So are you saying you do use a white spring in your Apex with good results?

Forget the color hmmm

Have Apex switched to the Attak spring, better way for me to explain it.

Rode with 5 other Apexs and an Attak one of the last rides.
Mine was faster than all but Duanes supercharger, interestingly, mine was the SLOWEST of the bunch before the simple mods I listed above.

I did what is here in Ted Janities thread. Didnt get around to buying Allen U's kit last year so I tried this as a stopgap for a few bucks. Butt dyno says it is faster but cant prove it except that my sled is faster than at least 5 stock apex/attaks. dont know if that is beause of gear or SLP pads.
It doesnt upshift as fast, revs stay higher on part throttle cruise is a very slight downside.

ive got the SLP pads.. They do nothing for speed,, i got the same 109mph on the dreammeter as before having them

Hi brian is that the best top speed you have ever got out of it?? Man something must be wrong,or alot of us have very good going ones and some have very bad going ones, now did you alter your speedo gear, cause we did and it knocks 7mph off your speedo, and we have even gpsed it on snowy trail at 110, speedo reading 117-118 and out on lake at 117-118 gps speedo 125-126 before speedo was cut it would run 134-135 speedo,so yours just seems kinda slow, and i know from watching your posts you have played with things to make it go.

I went with Ulmers at the end of the season after following all the posts. I went down to the 23 top and I found my sleds top speed increased but I lost alot on the holeshot due to more track spin. I had only 144 up the middle but the studs are garbage(red tips) I'll be replacing them this year and will try 168 or 192. You definetly need to have better traction!

Granted i never had really smooth snow that i rode on and it wasnt very hard packed.. but YES 109 on the dreammeter is the highest speed i ever saw on ridable snow.. (i did however see 114 on bare pavement with a slight covering of snow) (no i didnt mod the speedo gear)

I know this much.. my sled runs side by side with a 05 zr900 and all F7s at top end.. i might actually have a 1-2mph edge over them..

something wrong if your running even at top end with f7's,they get me out of the hole, but then i scream by them before 80 like they were standing still....u must have traction, thats my biggest problem!!
