As I said in my post, I'm not keeping it more than 2 years. Even with the Attak, the motor was great, but I had to replace MANY things on it. And it was
still behind everyone else in the ride and handling department. I think the cat chassis is great for yamaha. Finally something lighter weight that rides and handles better
than anything they've come up with. Sick of the weight after that many miles and long days with it.
Although it never left me stranded, keeping them that long you fall behind in upgrades, looks, technology, and have too much maintenance to keep it going.
The Yamaha is far from maintenance free with that many miles as any sled would be. After 2 years I'll trade it and start new again. I'll ask my dealer
about the mileage thing, never heard of it before. Have a friend in Ct. that has over 15,000 on his 800 etec and hasn't had to use the engine warranty, and he
didn't mention anything about limited mileage. He's trading this yr. also. We hear alot about ski-doo failures, but everywhere you ride they are everywhere.
More sleds out there the more failures. And that's what you hear about on forums. Just like hearing of all the failures on the Yamahas of broken suspensions, driveshafts, etc. is far fewer than what it seems when you read forums.
I'll give it a try and if it doesn't work out, maybe I will be back on a Yamacat.
Rode a Doo 1200 and it didn't excite me at all. I want light weight again and I think that chassis is gone after next year. Again, if I was to keep a sled that many miles, it would have to be a 4-stroke, but it has too many disadvantages to keeping anything that long.
Not much of an advantage to 4-strokes as I always thought it would be with these cleaner 2 strokes. We'll see next year.
