What are you guys getting for mileage on your apex's any year any model I'm curious.
My 06 GT gets 170 ish km's per tank and that's on the gas light for a while. Any one else having the same and or better? I've been told I should get 200km's per tank obviously all depends on driving style, weather conditions, trail conditions etc I'm just ball parking here. Would love any feedback thanks!

I just bought an apex and have put a few tanks through it. One tank I got 155km and it took 30L. Im not sure how big the tank is on this but the gas light was on for about 30km. Another tank I put 105km on it and it took 20L

FUEL MILEAGE
A 2006 and 2007 Apex have a 38 litre tank, 2008 to 2010 have a 35 litre tank and I believe 2011 to 2013 have an even smaller tank, because of the power steering. That being said, my 2010 Apex with a 2007 38 litre tank, will go 135 miles on 35.5 litres. Fuel light on for 25 miles. Hope this helps.

The 2012's have a 34.6 L (9.1 gallon) tank. Your gas consumption seems pretty good from what I've heard from others.

Re: FUEL MILEAGE
That helps a lot thanks! You are around the same area as me so I'm assuming same type as trails. I had low fuel mileage today about 160km's on gas light for a while. But snow is very loose even groomed and my donuts are done just started backfiring today so I ordered donuts and will retest probably next weekend hopefully the snow gets more hard packed. I know I should just ride and have fun but for some reason I couldn't get this fuel thing off of my mind. I'm riding with a new ETEC and he gets ridiculous fuel mileage makes me think of it all the time.

my sled 2010 Apex LTX GT and here is what I have found I have been riding this sled for 5,000 miles. Trail riding on the bar a lot, Low fuel light come on at around 110 miles, stretch another 30 miles left on the tank ( 2 Gallons left in tank) so 140 miles to tank of gas. I think my tank is like 8.4 gallons. that's about 16.6 mpg. seems to be pretty constant each time out. I have noticed in deep snow or off trail mileage drops about to 14 or so. One thing is sometimes my fuel light seems to come on early but my rule of thumb is I start looking for gas when I approach a 100 miles. Hope this helps.

Re: FUEL MILEAGE
Bad donuts will kill your milage and your power. I was getting 1/3 less milage on the couple days my donuts were shotMurse said:superb said:A 2006 and 2007 Apex have a 38 litre tank, 2008 to 2010 have a 35 litre tank and I believe 2011 to 2013 have an even smaller tank, because of the power steering. I think that is whats going on, my donuts I'm 99% sure are shot I ordered 4 new ones I'll replace them asap plus we got a dumping of fresh snow and even groomed trails are very loosely packed with snow so track spin big issue. So we were off trail riding pretty much and I still squeezed 160 or so km's out of a tank. But the louder my sled got during the day the less power I noticed and I know it is the exhaust I'll be inspecting it thoroughly for any other cracks in Y pipes hopefully get everything ready and done by next weekend. It was really bugging me and I really going to be looking quite closely to 2014 might be a new sled year. I really want to blow the doors off of my buddies new 800 etec not just keep up and be even with him LOL

To the OP, Try covering your exhaust outlets with a pair of work gloves while it is running. If the donuts are leaking you will not be able to stall the motor. If they are not leaking, I believe you will be able to stall it if they are sealing properly at idle. If you have to change the donuts out, you may want to consider using the copper ones, which should last forever.

I bought the sled used and the only thing I didn't check was the exhaust. I will be looking at it thoroughly. I will also cover my exhaust but I'm positive its the donuts it is backfiring on release of throttle its really loud and my fuel mileage and top end are suffering. Either way I'll replace the donuts I already bought stock donuts wasn't sure but I got a good price. Perhaps next season I'll check these donuts during pre season check and will order copper ones when they need to be replaced again. I also heard that the exhaust Y pipes have a tendency to break and crack when ridding in rough trail? Which we were doing when this backfiring started since we got a lot of snow and we are trail breaking right now. If my Y pipes are cracked I will be very disappointed, I love this sled but If stuff like this is going to keep happening...I can see my head hitting a brick wall. Hopefully all goes well from now on.

Murse glad you posted this.
There is 4 apexes in my group(1 just bought 07 this year)
We where talking the other day after our ride about fuel and we actually where all thinking the same thing. One of asked if anyone else was getting crappy milage and we all said yes.
But we where all on our first tank of gas for the year and whith the heavy snow well.
1 got about 140km before my light came on which is horrible.I actually thought there was somthing wrong with the sending unit. Yestarday fresh tank of fuel and its back to 170-180km before the light comes on same with buddies machines.
I run a can of sea foam threw it as well. love that stuff.
Not saying your donuts aren't holding you back just wanted to chime in and let you know we where thinking the same
cheers

A bad throttle position sensor can also give you poor gas mileage.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! 170-180 sounds about normal for me as well. My sled is out of commission until I get my donuts which will be Friday so I will post my hopefully better fuel mileage after replacement of these and inspection of exhaust.

I also switched to regular fuel recently as oppose to 91 octane to try will this hinder or improve my mileage? Does not seem to be affecting performance just does not have a nice smell anymore. I was told that regular is fine for my machine and it is definitely better on the wallet.
