Has anyone had a problem with the rear shock on a GT where when you push the mode swtch on the dash the shock id won't come up on screen. I've looked at the wiring from the shock to the dash and nothing seems to be broken or disconnected. Has anyone had this problem. :o|

You broke a wire underneath somewhere near the shock. Mine did the same thing in Canada and it turned out to be a broken shock wire.

PM leaddog he has the same problem. His, I think, is the ECU. He has voltage to his shock and continuity on both wires all the way to the connector in the sled. When he tries to go into the EC shock adjustment mode it won’t come up. Kevin from Port Yamaha thinks the ECU it the problem as well.

I'll take it to my dealer, the machine is still on warranty. mrance111 can you tell me what specs your re-valved rear shock was calibrated too and what's the difference from stock.

I Couldn’t tell you. I took it to Shock Therapy in Durand Mi. I told Bob that it was bottoming on large bumps at higher speeds. He told me he would give it more bottom control (starts to slow the shock travel more aggressively about 3/4 the way through the travel). I haven’t tried it yet but I can post the results on Sunday when I return from the U.P.

If you have battery voltage (12 volts) at the shock, and have around 5 ohms resistant through the solenoid, then it's probably the ECU. Grounding the shock wire to the chassis seems to be able to take out the ECU along with the ESC fuse. If you check diagnostic code 29 in the service manual you can verify it. Yamaha has agreed to replace mine under warranty. It's in the shop now. A very special thanks to "David Radcliffe" at Roseville Powersports and to Kevin at Port Yamaha. I feel that David has gone way out of his way to help me resolve this problem. He will certainly get all of my future business. (he even had a set of the new bars for me)

Thanks guys

Congrats leaddog.........glad to see you’re not giving up on the sport and glad to see you get the assistance you should have gotten from your dealer (K&W). I never did find them very helpful. Customer service goes a long way in my book.

Check the two little wires and the plug in on the shock. I had the same problem.

Anyone know where the ECS FUSE is on the Apex? I want to check it out before taking it to the dealer. My rebound adjuster doesn't click anymore also.

The ESC fuse is just over the reverse lever by your right knee.

If your rebound adjuster doesn't click, you have a leaking o-ring inside the shock body. Yamaha has an updated part number now. Mine has gone three times.

I have to re-install my shock this week.. It worked before I took it out accroding to the gauge.. I just the EC works after the new shock is installed... or I'm going to be pissed.. check out your wires.. I had a cracks and holes in my wiring covers. A little black tape has taken care of it though.
