I just brought home my GT, I rode it across the yard and put it in the garage (to clean it and give it a coat of wax of course). While looking at the skid I noticed it looks like the top of the shock has rubbed on center of the track, there is an obvious wear line all the way around the track. I read about this on the 05 mono anybody else have any experience with this? I want to stud but now worry about warranty issues.

Track might be a little too tight. Also should have snow/water/ice to lubricate. If you put studs in it, just avoid putting them over the shock mount. Note something about warranty... you can modify all you want, but the warranty will only be void IF the failure is due to the modification.
Thats what I was thinking LB, about the lubrication. Does anyone have a good pattern for 144 up the center without having a stud right in the center over the shock?
Also it says right in the manual that yamaha does not recomend studding so thats why I worry about warranty declines due to studding. They can always fall back and say it was rubbing due to extra rotating weight, which I guess when you think about that, it would cause the track to lift up from the shock you would think.

Thats why you need a good dealer. Ask the dealer what he is going to cover

Question for you guys. Does the APEX have a heat exchanger at the front of the track, or does it just rely on the fan/rad up front? Also is there Tunnel protectors iinstalled as they did with the viper etc?

sfraser---Apex does have a front tunnel heat exchanger, with protectors factory installed. Also has the running board exchangers plus the radiator.

M7 ask your dealer why the track is so tight?maybe he should go over his PDI program. Not just slap together the shock's,windsheild, etc grease it up and say here ya go.No kidding some dealer's have no clue went to look at an RTX today and they had the Fox float's on with the pump valve facing inward.

I saw the same thing on an RTX at a dealership in Guelph, On...seemed odd that the left shock valve faced inward and the right one outward???

Some dealers think that there mechanics know it all. That's why when I can I like to pick up the snowmobile/bike myself and sign off on the liability,If they can't put shocks on properly what else are they doing incorrectly.A couple of hundred dollars to put a on windshield, shock's,ski's,battery, etc and grease it up PLEASE! most don't even align the ski's.

HEY RIGHTARM,,,
Don't knock lawnmower mechs. Most auto and bike guys think they know it all and can not figure out a simple carb prob. on a lawnmower
Oh and they really have fun when they get into the Hydros on a mower.
HOw about quality of cut????? Most people could not level a deck to svae their lives
Don't get me wrong most of the time all it takes is some fresh gas and a new spark plug, but when it needs more thats what separates the boys from the men
