New to Yamaha, though been a sledder for a long time. Do my own maintenance. Acquired a ‘07 Apex GT recently and having a wee bit of trouble. Hopefully some members can chime in with some guidance.

Background is, I bought the sled last year and given the late session purchase plus absence of snow did not burn a half a tank. All was good. Parked the sled for the summer and when I went to put it into service this year, right off the bat, had an issue. Mice come to find out had chewed through the fuel pump wires. Fixed that, started the engine and it would bearely run. Code showed crankshaft position sensor. Got a trigger coil from RM Stator and installed that. Fired the engine, and all seemed good. Helmet on, time for a test flight. Seemed normal for a mile, and sled bogged out and basically would only (barely) idle. Towed it home, and code says, air temp sensor + altitude sensor. Changed them.

Went to start it and, same thing. Barely idle. 1000 RPM, maybe 1500. Touch the throttle and it dies. I bypassed the TORS and no change.

I went to the codes and #60 and #61 both show “00”. However #62 shows 4. Can’t seem to clear #62.

Point is no idea where to go from here.

Help?

Can't clear active codes. #20 is caused by 13 and 15.
It won't be the sensors, it'll be the connector blocks located in multiple locations throughout the harness or open or short circuit somewhere.
The Black/blue wire affects both of those sensors so I would search it out first.

Roger that. According to the wire diagram the black/blue wire is associated with a lot of whole wiring. Wondering if the mice were eating wires somewhere else, Lol.

Thanks for your reply, I’ll be on the hunt and report back,

Thanks

Do you know what RPM the engine will idle at when cold?

Also I got wind that the RM STAOR wires might be backwards.

There is a Black Blue wire coming from the trigger coil. Do you think I would do damage if I reversed those wires at the connector and start the engine?

No it won't hurt anything. Yes, sometimes they are polarity sensitive, but I don't think it's your problem. Wouldn't cause it to throw the current error codes.

Found the problem. Basically corrosion on a “joiner block?”. Not sure what it is called. 3 black/blue wires connect in it. It’s located at the end of a wire harness on L/H side of the engine, right beside the fuel rail. There are 3 pig tail type connectors there, the one that was effecting me was the 3 black/blue wires.

Big shout to member “74Nitro” (see above thread) putting ME on the right path.

BTW: determined that black/blue goes to ground, that’s how I troubleshot.

See pic.

Good job, those are the ones I wanted you to find.
But black blues aren't grounds. Solid black is ground.

Thanks for the info on what ground is (not). Was able to clear all codes too.
