I really dont like the look of this looking at the sled and want to change this. Either paint it or cover it. I really dont know what to do yet.Does anyone else feel the same way?do u think the waves for lack of better term are there to help with air flo? I hope to figure out something Will have to look at it some more in person

I don't mind the look of the air box lid. However if I were to change it, I'd go with a ram air lid. Fix Powersports sells a kit that adds HP, also Hauck is developing a kit. Stay tuned. I like the idea behind the ram air, but many people say it's really annoying sounding even at lower speeds.

Only louder when you hit throttle...otherwise its pretty much same levels until you crack it...IMO its AWESOME sounding!...it come from front too,so its not annoying like hte muffler from rear.

I made my ram air kit....proved it works on radar gun and the only cost is the peice of prefilter material...so I saves about 200 bucks over FIXs cost...simple thing to make.

Dan,
What did you use to hold the prefilter in place. Super Glue, clamp set up, etc ?
Just courious, thinking about do the same to my RTX..

Merry X-Mass..

wow matty....you are FAST!....LOL,BTW i LOVE that new avatar!...spinning turbo !!!

BTW,as far as the home aid ram air....your g/f or wife can most likely sew much faster and better then I did..LOL...and that is 99% of the work!...

So what sort of gains did you get on the radar gun? I looked at the other thread and I didn't see where you had mentioned it.

Thanks,

Marq

well,me and another member swapped my ram-air after running the gun...and YES it proved itself....it does exactly what FIX powerports had proved it does...I cant take any credit for the CONCEPT,as I just looked at buddys FIX kit and sorta designed my own...but the FIX boys do their homework...and yep,it made between 1-3mph on the gun....

this motor likes more air, plain and simple.

Just swapped out the stock plugs for the cr10ek's and the stockers were too dark. These things are running rich as it is. Besides, they arn't 2-smokes :4STroke:

What do think about the lean running that may be occuring! DO u have a controller or something can u check it

many aftermarket guys have these kits out now..all without any issues.....mine has been fine too.

I did adjust my BOTTOM END enrichment....I didnt do this last season and really didnt notice any bogs on bottom end, however i am going to try this to see if it is any difference....its strictly for when you first hit the flipper if i understand it correctly....Ulmers site has this info....very simple to do on the speedo pod.

an Yes mighty is correct, these seem to run very rich...black plugs....possibly the reason the ram-air works so well???..

Dan, What are you talking about? Are you adjusting to a different map? How is this done on the pod?

Thanks...

I hope its OK to LIVE LINK to another site....If not I apologize, and MODS please remove this.

Here is the LINK to this low speed enrichment thru your speedo pod....its very easy, another member on this site whom i met last season showed me this first hand....so I already knew about it thru him...

Im not sure i needed it with my ram air however i have done it and will test the richer low speed mixture,it only takes a few minutes to change it back if i want anyway.

hey machzed....you say you adjusted the fuel on the pod,i know how to do this but my question is how did you know how far to adjust the number that showed on the pod for each cylinder,to do this correctly to ensure that each cylinder is producing the same(getting same air to fuel mixture)you have to use an exhaust gas analizer on each header tube to see what the air/fuel mixture is at the factory setting ,then you adjust to make all the cylinder's air/fuel mixture the same, i think my factory numbers ranged from 1 to 5,they varied between the 4 cylinders and the air/fuel mixture was not even close to being the same on all cylinders,if i remember right the magic number for air/fuel mixture was like 13.2/1(dont qoute me on that )and mine ranged from 12.5 to 14.5 to 1 before we took the reading and adjusted this, ive heard of sleds with numbers on pod ranging from -5 to 20 so im not sure how a simple adjustment could work on every sled, lets say you went in and just bumped all the numbers up by 5,then you might have one cylinder that is perfect and one way too rich and one way leaner than the others, makes more sense to me if they are all the same by reading the exhaust gas, lots of people can vouch that my sled works well and im glad to share info with fellow yamaha guys, hope i didnt confuse anyone with this book i just wrote
