The antifreeze is real green, i will take it out, what's the best way to drain it and refill it, i read in here that you can get some air pockets if not done properly when filling. On the performance part, i am gonna take it back to woody's in topsham for the clutching, they put it in but never tried it,told me to adj. if necessary. I add a lot of weights but it still went to 11k.I took them off, just not happy with all the mods. Maybe i need a pc111 for the fuel.

When the light comes on pull over, turn off the motor then pack snow on the foot rails. The exchangers run under them and this will cool them off enough so that the light goes off when you restart it. Maybe 5 minutes or so. If it doesn't you may have another problem. The sled is supposed to shut itself off if it gets to hot so if it isn't then overheating may not be the problem.

One thing i am trying to understand is how the sport bikes have similar motors and can run when it is 90 degrees out with just a radiator and a fan. the sleds have a radiator, fan and heat exchangers and we cant keep them cool? how does this work?

1) sled operates under much higher load for longer periods of time.
2) sled has heat exchangers (which require contact with *wet* snow to be effective) and a PRETEND radiator, bike has a *real* radiator.

I believe if the light is just on, then the fan is working indicating it is too warm, if the light blinks, then need to shut down, i think i saw that in the manual, and it will also shut down if dangerously hot. The light will go out if i sit for 5 minutes, but doesn't take long to come back on. If it is colder out with better lube, then it isn't a problem. I may just have a mix issue, the thing is just too sensitive to conditions. I ran it at 100 with the light on, didn't flash or get worse,could running lean cause engine to run hotter.

I think you are tempting fate buddy, drain all coolant, mix yourself with distilled water and fill it up. Raise back of sled and undo drain in radiator (if applicable) that will push any air out. I believe and someone will correct me if I'm wrong,the sled will only shut off at high temp at idle. I checked into this a while back and I'm pretty sure that is correct.
Have you tried driving it with the radiator side shroud off? You will get a lot more air to the radiator,if the light goes out,you can be sure that it is NOT an electrical malfunction. Also unplug temp sensor by the t-stat,see if any debris.

Test your coolant. If it reads -35 to -45 your coolant isn't the problem. You could also try water weter, amsoil product or a few others to assist with cooling. If your coolant is real green then I bet your mixture is off from factory or maybe you have an air in the system. But like Aceltx09 says you may be playing with fate.

I am pretty sure Aceltx09 is correct. It will only shut down for high temp at idle. not at running speed. One trip on Lake of the Woods a few years ago with the temp light coming on prompted me to buy a digital gauge from Ulmer so I really know what the coolant temp is. Next trip like that I ran ice scratchers on the skis.

Could the side shroud be vented to push more air to the PRETEND elevator?
