Hey guys - I'm looking for some input. I am curently riding a 2005 RX Warrior (K & N filter kit and clutch kit, 144 up the middle) - really happy with the overall performance, but the new Apex's seem really awesome. I am thinking about trading in the Warrior for hopefully a non-current or slightly used 2006 Apex. Bottom line, which is the better performer? How much am I actually going to gain for the $$? Either way, as long as it is a Yamaha, I'm still grinning...

I came off of 2 Rx-warriors to a apex gt.. In fact i was out riding with my brother on my old warrior last night..
There is no comparison..
The Warrior is at least 40lbs heavier but feels 100lbs heavier..
The ride on the apex is second to none..
The apex is like a 4wheeler with a crotch rocket motor,, where the warrior is like a harley with a croch rocket engine..
The only edge the warrior has over the apex is the headlight and it gets slightly better MPG... Apex 14-15 and the warrior 16-17mpg..

Apex all the way. EFI and the rider-foreward seating position are worth every penny that it would cost you to trade up.

Ditto what welterracer says: Apex ride / handling way better than RXW, Apex is more comfortable but the fuel injection gets only 13-15mpg. Go for the Apex, you'll be way glad you did. But then again, the '08's are being announced in a couple of weeks, we're all anticipating some cool stuff so you might wanna hold off 'til the announcement.

I currently own them both.
My Warrior was the best sled I ever owned until The Wifes Apex GT.
The Warrior feels like a dump truck after coming off the Apex.
I agree with everything Brian said and will add two more.
Warrior is a little better IMHO on a trail starting to wash out at slower speeds. However kick the speed up on the Apex and the bumps disappear.
Warrior is unbelievably stable at high speed on flat open trails. The Apex is excellent here but not quite as good as the Warrior.
A man votes with his wallet. My vote is to lighten the wallet and get me an Apex like my wifes or perhaps an ATTAK.

Right on guys and thanks for the input - I think that will wait and see what the 08 model line up brings before I do anything, but I imagine that regardless, the wallet is going to see me on an 06, maybe an 07. The Warrior is my first 4-stroke experience and man, I will NEVER own a 2-smoker again. My new problem is that I just can't behave myself and want more!!! Oh well, hopefully the crappy season we've had in southern Ontario (up until a few weeks ago) will help keep prices down and maybe even turn up a few non-current 06's...
