I currently have about 700 miles on my Apex GT. Totally stock except for 144 studs and I have a 1" mach Z track on it because I was told that the 1.25 Ripsaw would cause me to suffer on top end. No clutching. I raced another GT with 150 miles on it, 1.25 ripsaw and 144 studs and usually would beat him out of the hole but he would creep past me at about 90. I raced another GT with 370 miles, 1.25 ripsaw and no studs. I jumped ahead 3-4 sled lengths out of the hole and he blew right by me at about 90. Both were stock, no clutching and we raced on a hardpacked lake top. Does anyone have any idea why the other ones might be faster then mine has more miles on and should be faster. What could there be that is making mine slower? I am only seeing at best 112 for topend on the speedo on good hardpack. My 03 RX-1 would easily get 125 on the speedo on the same conditions. Thanks for any suggestions.

I think you just run out of traction and your belt
go to deep in your big pulley (overdrive effect)

How do you run out of traction? What RPM's does your sled run at?

Probobly breaking the track loose at that speed!
The ripsaw is an awsome track.. when driving in snow on trails i wouldnt think you would loose any top speed...
the only way that 1 inch track would benifit you is on ice..
You must have your rear suspension tuned very good to be beating them out of the hole!

Interesting........At the ty ride in Muni I rode with 2 other Attaks. The two with Ripsaws (one was mine) could walk away from the sled with a 1 incher. I wonder if the 1 incher is heavier than the ripsaw?

This last weekend when I was running it on the hardpack, it was turning 10,500. Two weeks ago, on trails where the snow was loose it was around 10,700-10,800.SledFreak said:How do you run out of traction? What RPM's does your sled run at?

Most DOO tracks are heavier, so I'm not sure who told you that, The HackSaw would have been a better choice, Have you cleaned the faces of your clutches yet? Make sure there is no rubber built up on them. You may need a little more weight.

Mighty, was the rider with the 1 incher a heavier rider or did he have more studs than the guys with the Ripsaws?

A really fat guy, maybe you know him; JasonSrxspec said:Mighty, was the rider with the 1 incher a heavier rider or did he have more studs than the guys with the Ripsaws?
Seriously, he has me by about 40 lbs and I only have 108 studs compared to his 160 something. Same weight as the other rider who is studded the same way as Jason.

I remember reading in Snowtech that they felt the 1.25 ripsaw was faster on the top end that most 1" tracks due to the following reasons:
1. The ripsaw is lighter than most 1"
2. The ripsaw is not a true 1.25" across with its "jagged" cleats
