Good run with the Apex. Glad to see you beat the 800R.

The POV.1 is a pretty cool unit, although i wish it shot a bit more of a wide angle. The remote makes it nice so that you don't need to always be getting at the base unit. The loop mode is pretty cool too, just put the remote on the handle bar and tag the sections you want to keep. I nned to figure out something for the audio when riding, the mic is out in the wind, and you get alot of wind noise. I was just using velcro to mount the camera (yup, it was sideways on the gas tank for a few of the shots), but there has to be a better way.

All viosports have the wind noise issue. It has to do with where they put the mic. I usually edit it music over it so I've never really considered it a problem. There are numerous mounting solutions, nothing wrong with the results you got. Since my season is over, gonna ask Santa for a POV.1 next year! If you outputted it to a TV were you satisfied? My miniDV setup made beautiful video but I worried that by comparison the digital POV.1 might not look as good on an HDTV.

Nice vid. Ever go to East Jordon to the 660 track? Will be there this Sat

I haven't run it on the tv yet, so i can't say how that would look. The native video looks pretty good on the computer though. I will hook it up to the tv and see what that looks like. I was thinking if you put something around the mic, or somehow shielded it, the wind noise could be reduced. I had the base unit in a fanny pack aournd the handle bar riser, and a couple clips where i had the mic iniside the fanny pack the audio was alot better.

Are you stock? Or does the apex need mods to beat the "almighty" xp 800r?

I am about as close to stock as you can get - stock weights, stock helix, white spring in the secondary, and 23 gear. I put a bunch of time into a couple different aftermarket clutch setups, and could never consistently beat the stock setups. Everyone i talk to that is running aftermarket stuff i tell them to just try the stock stuff and see how it works. Once broke in, i think the stock stuff is dang hard to beat, and is definatly the most consistent running in varying conditions.

The other 2 apex's in the video are both clutched, one with Team Roller primary and secondary, the other (blue hood) with dalton primary weights, secondary spring, exhaust, and power commander. To be fair, that apex did have legs on the big end and squeaked by a couple times.

The 1000 cat is some sort of mix of cat parts in a zr800 chassis. zrt 800 bottom end, zr pistons i think, and thundercat cylinders or something. Supposed to be running around 170 hp.

I just think its amazing that 2 sleds with the same hp, one being atleast 125 lbs heavier than the other can run that close.

100lbs don't mean #*$&@ if it does not run like it should. Also, to really see a light sled really works it's magic, you really have to be on ice, with ample amount of traction and have zero track spin. With equal hp and clutched and tuned well a 100 lb difference will show it's true colours. But, on snow it's very hard to see it and a good running heavier sled can get the job done.

SRXracer, the other Apex with the mods would of have probably showed it's real potential in harder conditions, assuming he was studded correctly for the mods. ie. hardpacked snow.

on dootalk, those boys would tell you that the xp would eat the apex alive , except on top end..

THey are quick but not fast..

The one Apex in the vid is my old sled and that sled was hard to beat on hard pack by anything with similar power. I had a 1" track. Though the highlight reel doesn't look like it, the cat was right there with the Apex. It should beat it given the HP difference, but I certainly didn't get my #*$&@ handed to me as the video makes it appear. LOL In the loose snow, yes, on the harder stuff, lets see those videos. Towards the end of the video you could see me pulling on you until JP drifted over and I almost hit him.

This past weekend was my first time on a lake with my new sled.
07 Apex GT with 144 Woodys up the centre with double and single backers. Only 600 plus miles on it so far. Others I was riding with all weekend had 04 RX1, 700 Sabercat, 700 F7, Older 600 ZRT, and 800 ZR. From a rolling start at about 30 MPH I was able to walk away easily from all of them. At 10500 rpm and 118mph on the dream meter nobody was even close.
At the next trail side stop for a rest the rider of the 700 F7 and the 800 ZR were sitting on the Apex saying nice sled and man does that thing go.
After three days of riding they were talking about trading up to an Apex. :4STroke: ;)!
