I'm going to be installing an Apex radiator on my Warrior this weekend and I need some advice on adjusting the reverse. How do I adjust it exactly ? I just want to make sure I have it right so I don't screw up the chaincase and the reverse. Do I need the specs for an Apex ? Thanx.

There are two places to adjust the reverse. On top the horizontal linkage, and the lower vertical linkage. If all goes well with your install you may not need to adjust the reverse linkages at all. As I recall mine needed a little adjustment which I accomplished by adjusting the upper horizontal linkage a little. Just put the sled on a jackstand and adjusted the linkage until it engaged reverse smoothly. The lower lever must have its original full range of motion up and down. Of course, it never engages like that out on the trail without some coaxing.I'm going to be installing an Apex radiator on my Warrior this weekend and I need some advice on adjusting the reverse. Oh okay. I remember when I added reverse to my old Viper there where specs to go by and you measured the gap in those two linkages. So I figured maybe with it basically being more like an Apex there would be slightly different measurements to go by. So as long as it shifts smoothly between forward and reverse everything is okay and the gears are meshed properly ? Thanx.

Yes. You are not starting from scratch. You are just repositioning two lever points. Might need a small adjustment after. No spec to go by because it's not spec anymore.

Cool. Thanx a lot for the advice on this. I was a little concerned about making sure everything was adjusted right so I wouldn't tear anything up. I got it close to being finished this weekend. I think I can finish it tomorrow night. It looks good in there. Thanx again.

Is it not shifting right now?If it isn't then why worry about it? In 18,000 miles my reverse on my Warrior worked flawlessly, never adjusted it once. Put new chain on at 9,000 miles and Apex rad when I changed the track and still never adjuster the reverse! Not broken don't fix it?

I just wanted to know how to adjust it since it says in the write up with the mods to the reverse linkage minor adjustments would be needed. I'm not done yet so when I finish the instal I'll see if it shifts good or not. I just wanted to know before hand how people did it is all. Hopefully I can finish it tonight and get the system bled and check out to see if the reverse needs adjusting or not.

Just an update on my radiator install. I got it finished yesterday and I think it turned out well. I got the Apex radiator and fan in there, its a tight fit, but it ends up fitting like a glove. I wired the fan up to a switch on the left hand panel and wow that little fan moves some air. I did have to adjust my reverse slightly. It went into reverse good, but when I shifted to forward it didn't go in all the way unless I forced it. I noticed on the guide that the linkage slides in and out of that the roller wasn't centered and it was binding. I turned the adjuster until the roller was centered and moved freely. It seems to shift freely into forward and reverse now. Does this sound like the right way to adjust the reverse ? Also I bled the cooling system with the air bleeder at the back of the tunnel and started the sled up and ran it to warm it up. All the coolers got hot and I only saw bubbles in the coolant reservoir once. It seems like its bled properly since everything comes up to temp, but it just seemed to be too easy.
Does this sound good as well ? Thanx everyone and also Thanx to Rock for his great write up.

I must have measured and drilled perfectly as I needed no adjustment. If it engages reverse smoothly I'd say your golden. Snow will tell!

Cool. I hope so as it is a pain to get at linkage to adjust it. Thanx.
