APEX Retention plans...........LONG TIME for me

At least with a Yamaha I have the option of a long term plan!! I considered my previous 2 strokers to almost be throwaways after 3 yrs. These things are getting too pricey to buy as frequently as I have in the past..

I had 7600 miles on my '04 F7 after two years, and the motor wasn't touched. How much longer could I have gone without motor problems? Who knows.

I bought my ZR to keep for about 4-years as well. It has a 4-year warranty so if something goes wrong, it gets fixed. But after riding an Apex, I wanted one!

At least with this 1000 Yammy, I SHOULDN'T have to worry about any motor problems.

I am keeping my RTX mostly because I di not like the colours and windshields on the 07's near as much.

Remember how ugly the original Japaneese car colours and interiors were, perhaps a phase they have to go through.

If it is reliable, you are way ahead of the game.

New sled every year at 10K. Best trade you could get would be old sled +3K, so you loose 3K per year, for total of 15K in 5 years. This does not include the studs, mirrors, cover, ski's, whatever you buy new for each sled. Also does not include maintence on the used sled, which would balance out with the new sled costs going up and the trade in value going down.

Buy one sled for 10K, drive it for 5 years and burn it, you are out 10K, still 5K to the good. Is it going to cost >5K to keep the old sled going, and will it really be worth zero when you are done?

I agree, I have two old but reliable yamies that are worth more to me than anyone would pay, so I keep them. But money is not the only variable, there is desire for new, different and ? ' better ' so I intend to keep a long time but reserve the right to be SOLD a 'better' sled.LOL

I hope to do the same with my GT when I up grade, hey, the wife should love this thing!,

i have been trying to stay on a 4/5 yr plan, seems to work pretty good with yami.... wife and i alternate on getting new sled.... lets us experience all the chassis....

I'm with you yamadoo, I have over 4,000 miles on my ER. I will probably keep her 5 years or so. I need to get EFI adjusted so my gas mileage is the same as my older RX-1. I'll be looking for the pilots too.
