apex riser and bars on rx1

You will need the Mountain cables to go that high (straight) up & back. A better alternative would be to get a pivot riser to go forward. I had a PM pivot with I think a 2" block (3.25" total) on my RX-1 and I probably could have got by without the Mountain cables.

You will find without the pivot the apex riser will go to far back in to your chest. A pivot riser like 4fighter is the better way to go. I went with a 5" rox riser with the apex bar. Did not need cables being that the apex bar is pretty flat.

Have Apex bars and a 6" pivoting riser on mine.
It is just barely tall enough to stand for any length of time.

Would like to go to an 8" actually.
Had a 4" riser on it and it wasn't nearly enough.
The Apex bars have about 2" LESS rise built into them than the RX bars, effectively shortening your riser by 2".

So if you add a 4" riser and change to Apex bars, your effective raise is only 2".
Not enough to make an effective change.

After 3 different longer throttle cables from 3 different sources (none of which worked), Finally Kevin from Port Yamaha provided me one that worked. ;)!
It was a mountain cable from a 2005 Mountain Rx-1.
(The 04 mountain cable will NOT work!)
I did not have to lengthen any other cable, except for the throttle.

Hope this helps! :-o

I currently have 2" Rox Risers with stock bars on my '04 Warrior....I want to go 3.5", but I'm thinking of switching to Apex bars as well, which means I will need a 5.5" riser as per Rock.....what is involved with going to Apex bars on an RX??? I know I will need the mountain throttle cable, but will my grips still warm the same as with the stocker bars??? Or will I need to go with your kit also, Rock??? I am happy with how my grips heat up right now, so what I'm getting at is will switching to Apex bars change anything???

Hey Dude!

To be able to stand up on your sled for any length of time, you should be able to stand up on your sled, and have your elbows slightly bent with your hands on the grips. (With your back straight.)
That tells you how high a riser you need.

The grip heat should be about the same, the Apex bars are slightly higher power, but the power is spread out over the hooks also.
End result is that it should be about the same heat as you have now. ;)!

Rock :-o
