I'am a new member to this site and like to say I'ts a great place to see what other yammie owners have to share. I have a Apex ER and after my second ride I found a small rip on the top of the seat where I sit. The seat seems to pucker as if it's not tight enought, my dealer said this is the 3rd seat this week. Any news on this??, other than this issue I love this sled.

Welcome to the site.
Just take it to an upholstery shop and have them tighten up the cover to the front,my apex mountain seat was the same way(loose).
If you want to fix the hole you can use VLP (vinyl/leather reair) made by performix. Its clear and very strong.

Thanks for the information but my dealer said they are going to cover the fix. I was thinking that this may be a problem with the Apex seat cover from the factory.
P.S. Nice looking sled

I HAVE AN APEX GT AND I HAVE 790 MILES ON IT AND MY SEAT HAS WRINKLES ON IT AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE COVER IS TO BIG I OPENED THE REAR COMPARTMENT THERE IS A HOOK THAT THE SEAT COVER IS ATTACHED TO I UNHOOKED IT AND PULLED ON IT AND IT IS A GOOD 2 INCHES LONGER THAN IT SHOULD BE MAYBE IT CAN BE SHORTENED TO TIGHTEN UP THE COVER OR MAYBE IF ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEMS THE DEALER WILL DO SOMETHING IF ANYBODY HAS ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS PLEASE POST THEM.

I want the seat a little taller and firmer. Adding a piece of high density foam under the seat foam should help it. The extra material on the cover will work perfectly.

I agree the seat covers are not pulled tight enough,or its a combo of foam being too soft and not tight enough...mine is a wrinkled mess most all the time and sled is new....there are also creases in mine that wont come out...
Mine will have to be warranteed.

Same here. Three pinholes on mine, creases, wrinkles. Checked my bibs and have road many other sleds and can't find the cause.
Vinyl repair kit worked ok but I'm not happy with this after spending 10,000 on a new sled. Trying to get my dealer to work w/ me to get it taken care of. Pleased to see this thread and I'm not alone with the issue.
Same goes for my other issues: This forum has been very helpful to me!!!

My dealer is looking into it and waiting to hear back from Yamaha.
I fully expect they should take care of this and offered to let them checkout my bibs to make sure I'm not at fault. I have rode many other sleds and never had this type of issue with the seat.
Not acceptable for a 10,000 sled! I just hope the new cover is better and doesn't have the same issue.

My seat cover is at the dealer as I type this, they said they will fight it out with Yamaha. Maybe if there are many complaints everyone who has a Apex will get a better material, (stronger).
I'll post when I get it back.

My GT has more wrinkles on the seat than a Charpais Dogs loose skin.
Looks like hell.
A buddy of mine was with me who owns my old 98 XTC 700 and my sister in law with my old 99 700 Deluxe. These sleds have 20 K and 14 k of hard riding on them respectively and the seats look like brand new. [Not a wrinkle]
My brand new GT with .6 k has a seat that looks like it is beat to a snot.
Saw another GT on the trail which was a week old and his was the same.
Serial # is in the 200's so it is a early build.
Any others?
[ May all my problems be as small as this and luke warm handwarmers. ]
