Looked at an 07 this weekend and the sled was nice but when the guy cranked it over, there was a grinding sound and did it again when he shut it off. I immediately thought starter although he played dumb. I had not heard of any issues with these. My question is, is it likely the starter or could it be an issue with flywheel? Idled nice and I am sure its the starter but wanted to hear of any related issues before I do anything.

I have a 06 er starter started making noise this season 9,000 miles picked up a used one installed it noise went away.

I'm sure it is the starter but puzzled by the same sound when you turn the key off. Not quite as noisy, but its there.
