I just got an 06 apex RTX and my buddy has an 06 F7 efi snopro. For those who have ridden both what do you like about each one. And which will walk away from the other on the lake.

:yam:

You'll be better off in the bumps cause of the rider forward. My buddies F-7 imo is downright dangerous in the trails, it flops all over. I know this is partially setup, but the sled was just never comfortable for me, because the tunnel is so narrow. You'll also be faster on the lake.

The only thing he'll have on you is it'll be a little easier moving the F-7 around the garage and when it gets buried. Of course they're all heavy when buried. As far as the trail the F series never really cornered very well without some real tweaking, ZR was a different story.

My buddy has a 05 F7 Snopro.. ITs a great sled.. It is what i would call the equal to the Apex.. It rides slightly rougher though. due to its stiffer shock valving...

Af far as who is faster.... My buddy has a 2 degree timing key, BMP Pipe mod and clutching and i was still 1-2 sled lenghts quicker than him .and maybe 1-2mph faster on a lake... and he is 40lbs lighter than me..

Are you F-ing kidding me? LOL

No seriously if that is a true statemant they must have made some dramatic improvements from the 03'. One of the guys in our group has an 03' and last year we decided to switch and try them out. I rode it for maybe 10-15 miles and 2 miles into it I was woundering if, number one I would have any teeth left in my head from the vibration (and he has an isovibe) and two how many parts were going to fall off before I was done. Now I realize that it's old tech vs. new tech. but wow I never imagined that. My 95 and 96 Indy's are smoother and feel more solid. It must be one of those sleds you get used to.

u will walk away with ease!! been there done it many times ;)!

I had an '04 F7SP. Walk away...good luck! :o|

The F7 works good for a 700, no question. The SP is very stiff, and I couldn't get it to squat and transfer enough to take off well out of the hole. Mid-range and top end work very well. I wouldn't bet money on the outcome if I were you, even though RED800 isn't worried.

if your apex cannot walk away from an f7 with ease,u have something wrong... ;)!

I'm running with a couple good running Machs to 100MPH, so maybe I do have problems?!? :ORC

Maybe the F7s you played with are the sleds with problems. There's a reason the F7 is used at many radar events and drags...don't kid yourself.

A good running/setup F7 are hard to beat. I can beat an 04, but lost to an 06, which was mostly do to an traction issue. But, I believe I will beat him this year......

Three of my friends have F7s. I had an 03 RX-1.
They are some quick sleds. They used to get me out of the hole, but I had a little more top end.
I sold my RX-1 last spring. I could stay with them on any trail we rode, but it seemed like I was working a lot harder, Handling was awful! Even after many mods.
I had all summer to think about my next sled. My last choice was Artic cat. I worry about their reliability. I have seen to many problems with my buddies sleds. One had the recoil rip right off out in the middle of nowhere in the UP at night. I got it started with a strap I carry, (was the hero that night)
I was even checking out the 07 Artic cats at a snowmobile meet last month. While sitting on one, I was trying to adjust their new adjustable seat on it, and I broke the lever, lol. I just walked over to another, lol.
I ended up choosing a 06 Apex GT. I hope it rides better then my RX-1. It feels a lot different sitting on it. I hope it handles the F7s better this winter.
You need to consider reliability also when choosing, not to beat up Artic cat.
Enjoy what ever you buy. Peace.

the f7 i race drills other f7's so i know it has no problems,he gets me out of the hole, but within 500ft im flying by and top end he is no where in sight

I owned a GT and F7 last year (sold f7 and bought a Phazer). F7 with boondocker, pipemod and dynoed. The F7 was faster buy a few lengths with me and buddy switching off. It matters all on setup most likely.

Just a thought, have any of you guys that had or have problems running past f-7s ever ran 115 radar or gpsed speeds, the reason i ask is it seems that there is a few apexs that will not bend the speedo past 133 on the dreameter or gps much past 110 radar,if that is the case than you may have something wrong with your apex, most of the good apex sleds we have radared run over 115 gps easy, and some run up to and past 125 gps or radar!! And most stock or even slightly modded f-7s run 112-120 gps now 120 is not the norm, most run 108-112 so if your apex can run 115 average you wont have any problem,if you cant break 100 gps get it to a dealer and check it out..

I've had mine to 110MPH GPS, and it wasn't the best conditions. I saw 112 on my F7. Apex is currently bone stock other than studs. We used mine as a baseline to run with my buddies ER that was a bit slower, and on our last run we got it faster than mine. I'll putting the same clutching into mine and run them again...we just ran out of snow last year.

All I'm saying is it won't be a walk in the park in many cases, like RED is claiming it is. And don't get me wrong...there's a reason I'm on an Apex instead of an F7!!! ;)!

Hi again, well 110 gps is not bad,but like i said earlier that is most likely why the f-7 is beating alot of sleds, alot of f-7s run 108-112 like you stated your did run 112,and your gt 110 now how to get your gt to run 115 plus, because it can do it,i have had my now shortie apex to 110 gps on sloopy snow, but it is down one tooth, and have my version of ulmers kit in it,i can tell ya i am not a firm believer in the ripsaw for top speed, now i know a couple have run some very good top speeds with the track, but i think they run extra wheels reduced slider thickness etc. skid slammed as much as possible both front and back end of sled, skis can make a differance too,but we have run ours stock with simmons on at 134 mph speedo which is like 118 on snow/ice, now my buddy has the gt like your and allens clutch kit on and on good ice he used to pull 115 on the gun, until his track stretched to much, now it will not run that fast,if he keeps it he will install the preditor 9837 fully clipped 1" 6 pitch track i had one on my 05 fusion and it ran great, still hooked awsome, and you can stud with 1.175 picks.
