In a 1000ft what do you guys think would be the difference. Apex 121 with ripsaw track, PCIII, Ignition module, air box mod vs 750 vmax PSI quads and 9830 track. Weight difference, speed and lengths. Results posted later. Both sleds a very well dialed in.

going to be on a rolled test strip, great conditions for both sleds, will all come down to how much hook up the vmax4 gets. Better the hook up worse it will be for the apex.

Owned a Vmax 4 with pipes!! I am with Turk. V max is lighter has a lower suspension and probably 15-20 more hp than the Apex. No chance for the Apex.

That short race will be won by a clutching setup that no one would trail ride with. Power wise they are too similar to call a winner. When it gets rough the Vmax4 suspension will maintain control after the Apex is shards of cast potmetal.

WOW! the v-max is gonna do a better job in the rough? NO_WAY! That suspension sucked from day one compared to the Apex. Now runum down a flat smooth run, the V-Max Rules! What Turk Said!

Sounds like fun!! This has got me thinking now. A friend of mine just picked up a 1997 VMAX 4 800 with quad pipes just for kicks. He also owns a 136 Nytro with NOS and an ATTAK. We should line them all up and see what happens.

I had a bud with a nice older vmax 4 750.... It was one fast sled... Its like two banshee motors on a common crank, One crazy fast and awsome sounding motor....

But don't go to the polaris forums and ask, because everyone who owns an xc500 has smoked a vmax4 multiple times.... Sometimes I actuallly lough out loud when I read some of that stuff....

If the Vmax is setup up right, it should ahead, but not much. Traction is the key. Those sleds are very similar in weight / power.

With quads the vmax should be ( if jetted right ) around 155-160 hp. The 800cc Vmax with quads and proper jetting is about 165-170 hp.

In stock form the new 4-stroke takes it.

The reputation of the Vmax4 front suspension is solely due to the size of the ads run in the 1990's compared to the trailing arm companies. The V4 struts were set up to maintain control at high speed, and in this regard may have been the last time Yamaha shocks were set up properly.

Here are the results: Weight apex 15lbs heavier, vmax 10-15km/h faster which equated to between 4-6 sled lengths depending on how the vmax got out. Stock apex and stock vmax would be a good race. Now Turk, how did you know this was going to happen? LOL
