I pulled 123MPH on the speedo which was only 109GPS. Box stock with 144 studs. I've played with the clutching a bit with some help from people here but haven't had a chance to try it yet. I don't have anything machined, so I guess may not expect much more for top end numbers...

My dream meter reads 110. My 2002 viper pulled my Apex on top end. The rider on the Viper was also 40lbs lighter. But that shouldn't matter. I'm tearing down the mods and going right back to stock to see what happens.

I don't remember the details on this but I seem to remember a post early last year about some of the GT's coming with wong primary clutch which made them pretty slow. Do a search and see if you can find anything on that or maybe somenone else knows more about it.yamyfreak said:My dream meter reads 110. My 2002 viper pulled my Apex on top end. I seen the post on the wrong primary on certain Apex models between certain serial numbers, but mine doesn't match those numbers.

If you have one of those Apex GT's with the wrong primary clutch assembly you should've gotten a letter directly from Yamaha.
The affected range of Apex GT models was serial numbers 8GD-0005377 to 8GD-0005476.

Regardless of what kind of snow you are on,your sled should walk by any stock viper,i would go back to all stock set up,check your skid fram all out, like your wheels, jackshaft and driveshaft bearings etc. and cut your stock helix by at least .100-.125 thousands off the inside of the hub, this will let it shift out a little more, check out both clutchs to see if they are opening all the way,and check your offset of your clutchs, and set your belt deflection to the book, your little manual has this info in it,you should be seeing at least 110-115 speedo on a snowy trail and on bare ice 130 plus on the speedo.yamyfreak said:My dream meter reads 110. I just pulled 114 (128 deammeter) yesterday with the Ulmer Stage 2 kit and 23 top gear. (about 2300 ft on snowy/bare lake)
Last year my sled did not go faster than 109mph and stopped gaining at about 1700 ft.
I think I can get a few more MPH!
Very happy with results!!!

I pulled 125 on dream meter with real good hardpack with some ice. Running a 06 attak with pro line clutch kit. I see 115 to 121 all the time when playing on the river.
But now I have to do a little clutch work, have 1200 miles on her and now spins 10,900 at wo. Was spinning 10,700 gained a few rpms.
Gearing is 23-38.
