Re: 23 top Gear
I don't know about BBY but my Apex GT has done 122 mph on radar with 40 tooth gear, different spring and helix, 144 studs in a 1 inch lug track (stock Mach z track) and some suspension adjustments. This was done on perfect ice as I am sure his was also to get that kind of speed. Oh, and my primary was machined as I believe BBY said his was too. I think I might be able to squeeze another 1 or 2 mph out of her now but haven't had the conditions to test the last changes made. These babies will fly if set up right. No BS!yamyfreak said:I don't beleive it, I've never seen or heard other than BS that an Apex can hit those numbers. I've got an Apex Gt with the Hauck kit with K&N filters on it and have raced a lot of competition and never have I hit over than 110 mph on this sled. Stock or mod. As far as spending money on mods for a four stroke, don't it's a waste of money. Unless you spend the coin on a turbo or NOS, I personlly don't think the other products give you any advantage. By the way guys don't waste your money on the Hauck GYT R DUN KIT!! I've got one for sales If anyone is interested.BlueByYou2000 said:I have a 40 bottom gear which is basically the same gear ratio the 23 top is, and ran a best of 123 on radar. 1/2 mile, 192 trail studs, stock track, and ride height. Totally stock clutching with exception of white secondary spring and machined primary and helix. Ill take that anyday...BBY

Here's what I've done to my Apex.
1- Hauck GYT-R- Dun kit, fuel acc. pipe clutch kit...
2 - K&N filters
3 - 3 degree advance key
Still not making waves here in Canada.
Going back to stock and start from scratch.
What a waste of CASH!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot 1 thing i did change my gearing from 24 top gear to 23 top gear. My F7 still takes it. I'm a true blue Yamy guy but my F7 is bone stock and i've spent $2000.00 to make this Apex scream and still not impressed. I am talking to Ulmer Racing.

Hey freak, I talked to Dyno Ray and he has dynoed the timing keys. They make less power than stock. I guess you gain a little top end. I had bad luck with the fuel accelerator. Hauck is offering to reflash them if you send them in with return shipping for free. I guess they were dumping to much fuel. Snowbeast also used his exhaust and I think the rest of the kit he also said that he lost perfomance.

Sorry meant to say you gain a little bottom end with the key

When I read the shot out articles in the Snowmobiler Mag Spring 2006 issues the Apex top speed was 104.70 which is where I'm sitting so who is stretching the truth. Hey I'm not trying to nock Yamaha I've been a tried and true Yamaha guy for years. I'm just wondering what's up with mine.
Stock gearing (24-38) 1"track 144 studs. Made 112mph on hard pack. Last year with the ripsaw did 110 on 2000 feets.
I thing something's wrong with your. How much milage on your sled?

Well first of all the mag. amsnow that did the artical only ran them a little past 1/4 mile for those speeds the marchz only ran 109 and it was on 3 or 4" of packed/loose snow from the looks,i have run my apex well over a half mile on loose snowy rr bed at 110 gps but was not able to run it on any kind of good ice at the time, but early on in the year when it was an attak 136 its best runs were 114 snow/ice and best with hauck get r done kit 112 all numbers gps,and now that it is a shortie i am exspecting to break 120 mph i have several friends here in maine that are constantly live on the lake and they have stock apex only lowered clutched and geared all running from 123-127 radared consitantly.yamyfreak said:When I read the shot out articles in the Snowmobiler Mag Spring 2006 issues the Apex top speed was 104.70 which is where I'm sitting so who is stretching the truth. YamaFreak, what are your speeds on the Dream Meter? Or are those it? If they are you have issues with your sled? I pulled 126 last year on the speedo (Dream Meter) on hard packed groomed trail, with a Proline kit and 23/38 gearing.
