The XTX would open up a lot of off trail terrain without sacrificing trail performance...very intriguing! I really like the Nytro XTX concept but at this point I love my Apex and would not want less HP, less range and less comfort with the Nytro XTX. If Yamaha were to come out with an Apex XTX I think I would be very interested! The more I think about an Apex XTX the more I REALLY like this idea!

I have often thought about heading west to go play in all that snow they get but definitely not with the shorty. The 136" doesn't sound like the ticket either but this XTX would WORK!!! Throw on a 1.75" track and some mtn. skis and VIOLA...ready to rip up some powder!!! Throw the 1.25" back on and it's back to a SERIOUS crossover!!!

I agree. An Apex XTX would make an awesome high speed capable crossover.

I noticed that Ulmer Racing offers custom machined 144" conversion kits complete with tipped up rails?

I'm not positive, but it looks like you could convert a 121" to a 144" with their rails. You'd probably need to run Skidoo anti-ratchet drive sprockets at the same time to make sure there isn't any ratcheting.

Nothing stopping you from extending to 144".

I hope they build a XTX Apex model. It is exactly what im looking for for my type of riding. I bought my current sled because of the torsion spring rear suspension and didn't have anymore options for length. This crossover would be great for us flatlanders. If they do build it i hope they have a track option as the ripsaw sucks in the snow. The current horsepower would be great but more would be better. I think it would be a good canidate for boost as well.

I would be happy in a heavy duty skid in the 136..... Im a fat #*$&@ and needed the RTX to hold up to me.

However I cant say Im completly happy with the CK skid, I would like to see something similar and better in 136

if yamaha dont make the apex xtx will the nytro xtx rear suspension fit on apex ?

Good question. Anyone know?

You ever actually driven a 144"? They handle fine.
No, just an Apex LTX during demo rides last winter. I liked the LTX but in back to back runs comparing it to the Apex I felt that it pushed more in the twisties. I think if 144's handled like 121's a lot more people would be running them.

I want what Yamaha is claiming, "corners like a 121, bridges like a 136, and floats like a 144". I realize this is a tall order but this IS what Yamaha is claiming and these guys/gals sure seem to like it...Video (this is the only video I care for out of all of them). As I said before time will tell but I'm really hoping their claims are true.

The deciding factor for me will be the part about corning like a 121. After owning an SRX and now the Apex I am spoiled in the handling department! If this claim isn't at least 98% true, forget it.

no 144" sled is going to handle like an srx. If I remember correctly when an srx sat on hard ground the rear axle and rear of the track was raised which is why they handled so well. The turning pivit point was from the center of the ski to the front section of the track

That was only with no weight on the skid. SRX's liked a lot of center shock spring, but the rear of the skid definately put down pressure with a rider on them. SRX's are definately shorter than apex's though, and have much shorter suspensions and a lower CG, so you get better handling with less body roll. The trade off is that they stink in the bumps.

That's the reason I said 98%, because I know there no way it could ever handle that good! I don't think they had the SRX in mind when they made that claim.

Shorter suspensions and lower CG yes but shorter overall length not really. The SRX's overall length is approx. 109" and the Apex's 110". The SRX just feels shorter. Yes they handle awesome and yes they definatly stink in the bumps!

GYTRules, I have generally done 2 degree kickups on 144" rails, but if you would want I can make 6 degree kickups to match the XTX.
