Recently I decided to sell my 2012 Apex xtx and possibly considering a Sidewinder as my next sled.I have been hit with offers from others asking to trade my Apex xtx for a Viper,I am very skeptical about that.My thoughts are I am sacrificing a lot in exchange for a lesser machine as I believe. My Apex is a awesome sled and has the horsepower I like ,the Viper I am not so sure about as far as power and reliability the Apex achieves. What do you guys think, tell me how it compares,is it worth it ??

My bro has a viper and it's pretty boring to ride your taking a major hit in the hp dept and I have towed his viper home twice in 3000 miles. I think u would be disappointed if u made that trade imo

I think you would be disappointed. We have a Viper in our group and several Apexes. No one will ride the Viper if they have the option between the 2.

The apex is just such a perfect trail machine. It's hard to replicate the rush of the power, the endless top end, and stability it has. Not impressed with any 3 holer. Hoping the sidewinder will be a worthy a successor but to early to tell.

I went form a 2006 apex to a new viper in 14. After numerous $ on rear skid, and turbo I finally had a sled, after 4500 mi there has been two times I couldn't go riding because something was broken in suspension and once I had to be hualed home on trailer, steering bracket broke. I am now looking to go back to an apex 2011 or newer. you will be greatly disappointed in power. I did ride a SW and they are better than the viper by far.

I would keep the apex and put a WRP seat and bar riser on it. Makes fore completely different ride.

Def opt for sidewinder! Ride one with an open mind and you will love it. Would take winder motor over apex any day. Much more Yamaha DNA in a sidewinder with Yamaha Ecu being a big asset. Yamaha brains running the engine unlike the viper!

No way would I trade my Apex for a Viper or a SW. Yamaha hit the nail on the head when they built the Apex XTX.
I think you will be very disappointed if you make that trade, but remember it's only my opinion!

This really depends on who you ask. You posted this in the Apex section ... so every Apex loving person will tell you that you are crazy. Post this same thing over on in the Viper section, and they will tell you to dump that Apex like a bad habit. The reality is, you will likely miss the hp (unless you turbo it, or go Sidewinder). But the ride and handling will be tons better than the Apex.
