AS MAD AS I GET AT MY NYTRO SOMETIMES?

Just to add- You could easly short out something if the clamp/wire got away from cold fingers and touched metal...

It would only be clamped on one end and on the battery side. So if it jumped off there would be no power to go anywhere. The other end is just going to have a lead to touch to turn the starter.

I don't think the switch is a bad idea and I'm sorry if I sounded like I was knocking it. I'm just saying it has to be done right so that the wires don't rub or it doesn't come loose. I'd hate to see someone short out there battery.

No worries Revster! I didn't take it that way at all. A fuse in line with the power lead at the battery would protect against a short also.

Thanks for the idea, I like to learn and this is a great topic.

I have had this starter solinoid problem 3 times now on my 09 xtx, jumping it was the only way I got home! but I have a fix and since I have done it no more problems! in a warm heated shop put a little bit of dielectric grease around the pins at the center of the solinoid reconnect the wiring harness to the solinoid, then using the red protective battery varnish cover tall the connections to the solinoid and the wiring harness with 2-4 coats, does the trick for me and hasnt costed me a penny replacing the solinoid since! 1000 miles plus now and not even a little bit of corrosion! and i live in a place were we get alot of saltwater air and wet snow conditions.
