Asphalt Results "2008"

Might as well update you guys on here as we are finally approaching the ESTA date. Best run at our 1/8th mile track was a 6.54 @ 98 mph. This was with new clutching earlier in the year, and it was not sorted out then. Since then, the clutching has gotten better, but the weather hasn't.

Anyway, went to Toronto Motorsports Park for Rich's Armdrop series this past weekend. 340 cars/bikes/sleds. Must have been 5,000 spectators. It was just like they were running a National event. Stands were packed. With all those people walking around, I was pleased to bump into Ernie. However, was disapointed with a 10.70 @ 117 on my final qualifying pass. This was the first time this year the sled was set up for a 1/4 mile pass, adn we only got 2 runs down the track (oil downs, accidents etc). Air was about 31C and about 60% humidity, so will be shooting for a 10.6x at ESTA. Bring your A game Corey... lol.

Actually the above run was made with the stock exhaust on the RX1. I have a Two Brother's bike exhaust I am willing to give a try for ESTA. Don't expect anymore HP. Will be lucky get 2HP, but there is about 10-15 pounds coming out of the sled, so hopfully this is a good thing. Will be bringing the stock exhaust... just in case.

Hope to see a lot of you guys in the next couple of weeks. Take care for now.

Jeff.

PS
No I didn't win the $10,000... didn't have enough self control. Broke out.

Thanks Jeff. Hope you get your 10.6. My A-game has been in the trailer all season. Haven't been out once yet. The only day I made it to the track we got rained out. Next Saturday will be my first run of the season. I guess we'll see what happens. Lots of changes to the suspension, clutching, and gearing. LaLaLa

Hey guys

I'm going out to NYIRP Friday night for a Test & Tune. This will be my 2nd time out all year. Got the juice working so I'm fairly sure I'll get high 9's based on my last runs without the juice. If my motor holds together i'll be at ESTA ready to roll :)

Corey, Come on out to NYIRP Friday night. The weather looks good...a little hot though.

Well it was a mad weekend thrash but I am almost ready to hit the tar for next weekend at Esta, all thats left to do is bolt the skis on but I am having some custom bushings made up for them before I can.
If all goes well I will go to NYIRP on friday to get some test and tune in and get the feel for the sled and lights as I haven't been out at all this year.
I look forward to going to Esta and the Amsnow shootout in Martin every year and seeing everyone again.

Hey Ernie

Glad to see your going to make it to Esta again this year. I went to NYIRP Friday night and was pretty disappointed. My best run was 10.17 at 128. My 60' times are high 1.5's and my N2O system needs some tweaking.

I am having a real hard time figuring out if my track is too tight or too loose or what is going on. It seems like at the end of the run, the drivers are sort of riding up on the lugs on the track. It kind of vibrates and you can hear the noise from it. as soon as I let off the gas and touch the brake...it goes away. I don't think my track is ratcheting at all but since my suspension was so screwed up Friday night I was hopping off the line like a bunny rabbit. Couldn't tell if it was ratcheting or just the track spinning and catching.

We'll get it figured out this weekend! See you soon.

I bought the track used. It had about 30 runs on it. I have read that post on amsnow and I think I'm just going to spray everything down with some silicone lube and try it. It definately sounds exactly like what people are saying on the amsnow thread.

I'm guessing if I spray it down I'll want to run it really tight otherwise it will surely ratchet. I'm running the 10.5" track with stock drivers. I checked all my drivers spacing when I put the track on and made sure everything was perfect. I did leave the outside drivers on the shaft though.

Any suggestions on the suspension? I'm running a 1 or 2 year old Wahl asphalt skid with the fox air shocks. It sits pretty level when setting it down. I was running about 100 psi in the rear shock and about 50psi in the front shock. I also was running about 35 psi in my fox floats on the skis. If I run less than 50psi in the shocks it just bottoms out when I sit on it. I actually had it coming out of the hole pretty good when i let all the air out of all the shocks...but, I don't think thats the way to go.

Jeff, you'll be at Esta right?

How about you Allen?

I will be there Wayne. Will talk about the track issue then. We still have problems in the shutdown area. The track and suspension are now on a Apex Turbo. Silicone and a very tight track have helped.

Believe NYIRP is in Cheektowaga NY. A friend went there for an event there a year ago and had a good time.

where is nyirp?

Go to www.nyirp.com

It is not in Cheektowaga. It is about 7 miles northwest of Geneseo NY in a town called Leicester, NY

It is about 35 miles southwest of Rochester, NY

If you guys are going to ESTA and want to get a test & tune in, head to NYIRP on the way. Friday night test and tune. You can get ten or twelve runs in if you want. It's not very busy and they run it well. You just stage when you are ready and they let you run.
