Quick question with simmons skis....I got this pair used and at first glance I thought the guy had the carbides on backwards, as it seems the center of the wieght on the ski isn't centered on the main carbide. I tried turning them around, but then they just looked really funny. Please see the pics below, I stuck the carbide in the holes from the top of the ski the same way I took it out and you can see how far back the main carbide is. i also took a picture of the carbide laying on the workbench so you can see how bad the front is wearing and the back looks like new still!!! I'm new to these simmons skis, so I'm hoping to get some input from those that have had them awhile!!! Thanks guys!!!!

If you search my posts, I have converted a set of these skis to steer easier and take an off the shelf carbide. They worked much better after I modified them. The way they are set up now, they go straight better than they turn.

mine did that also ,always wearing front, shimmed the ski`s (look for post`s there is a pile on this ) fixed my prob`s , infact all my sleds (all Yammi`s) have this mod done.

Ah, yes!! I didn't think of that!!! I actually have a set of ski rubbers with the shim glued to the backside that I ran with my Bergstrom Triples!! I will just put those shimmed bumpers on and try that first!!! thanks!!!

holy road riding!
the problem I found with these skis with stock carbides was that if you shim the backs so the fronts don't wear to nothing on pavement, they turn harder and for a ski that turns hard at slow speeds already, that wasn't the direction I wanted.

I could definelty see that!!! I will probably try the shim option for a day or two and see how it goes...if these things don't amaze me, I'm going back to my stockers with bergstrom triples anyway...those things are pretty sweet!!

Mine used to wear like that until I shimmed them. Don't overdo it with the shims and you'll be fine. I used a small cut piece of an old belt for shim
