SLEDSTART IS A GREAT PRODUCT PLUG AND PLAY IS THE ONLY WAY TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR TO INSTALL AND WORKS GREAT. ITS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I AM SURE THAT YOU CAN MAKE A CAR REMOTE START WORK BUT IS IT WORTH BUTCHERING UP YOUR WIRING HARNESS AND HAVING ISSUES OUT ON THE TRAIL WITH IT. PLUS THE SLEDSTART HAS A SAFETY SWITCH FOR WHEN THE SIDE COVER IS OFF BY THE CLUTCH AND A SWITCH TO DISABLE IT. AND BEST OF ALL GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAD A QUESTION DURING MY INSTALL CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE ON A SUNDAY AND KURT CALLED ME BACK WITHIN AN HOUR AND ANSWER MY QUESTIONS YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I like the feature on the sled start that allows the sled to start at intervals when the temp get below a preset outdoor temp. Or atleast that's what I think I read in the description..... We just had 2 of them installed by yamaha on our test apexs at work (snow goer/stv)... We will be doing a season test with them and then a write up.

Have you ever installed one of these Carstarts on a car? I bought one of these a while back to put into a truck. Got it at Can tire, these things are junk and temperamental. You would have a real mess of wires with the auto one. Stick with a Sled start. Way better product IMO.

I have installed them on all my vehicles and have never had an issue thats why i thought it might be a great addition to the sled. Just like the sled start it can be set to start at intervals to keep the sled from freezing up.. I dont like the thoughts of cutting up my harness, But im a bit of a stickler for making sure things are perfect so im sure i could make this look factory. It was just a thought im sure someone out there has done it.

Sledstart can actually be set to start at different Temperatures. Meaning it will start the sled at an under hood temp of -40 C/F to 2 C (35 F) which is user adjustable. It will also do the timed start of 1, 2 and 3 hours.

It has, had, and will be done. Its something that if you have a background in this kind of thing and feel confident installing one then go for it, Sled Start is a hassle free product that was engineered and tailored to a snowmobile. Trust me its not just a remote start with yamaha plugs and a snowmobile on the remote. If you have good luck with these in your vehicles then great but just remember the environment these will be subjected to.
I have been using that exact model for 2 years with no trouble. Connect the ignition output and start signal at the starter solenoid. The start output from the remote is +12v so convert to ground with a relay. One wire to brake light, or to TORS switch for the off signal. A wire to an injector is good but it will sense a running sled from voltage rise from the charging system.
