Has anyone tried mounting a Auxiliary fuel tank off a stock dx viper onto an xtx? Does Yamaha offer this as an option? Could a guy just buy the stock tank and parts and mount it or does it have to be used in conjunction with the hard storage box it comes with to tie it down? I like the idea that its plumbed right in to the main tank.

I have the stx dx with the Auxiliary fuel tank. I think it could be mounted as all you need is the tank and one line that runs from the main tank vent to the Auxiliary fuel tank. You would just have to fine a way to strap in down. put in in one of those yamaha large bags.
Tank infor.

Dont mine #11 that is just vent line. I think they selling a full real for that price. you only need 18"

Thanks for the reply Allan, If its not too much trouble could you measure the dimensions of the tank itself for me?

How many gallons does the tank hold?

Honestly just buy the powder Kegg
7000 series fuel tank/ storage combo.
Holds just about 4gallons. Used it for many touring miles in Quebec, worth every penny. Excellent latching system for the procross.

I would buy a Rotopax fuelpax and mount it to tunnel look good and dont cost to much. Just put a 2.5 size on my xtx.

I've got a 1.75 Gallon rotopax hidden in my expandable tunnel bag on a 129 viper. Works great and have needed to use it a few times when riding with buddies and their 12 gallon polaris tanks...

see posts #10 and #43 for pics of rotopax install.

Few other images in this thread for rotopax use...

Definitely need extra gas when running these viper’s in the great north.
Not the most efficient for a 4stoke.
But fun as hell!!!!!
