Tried them both. The luggage works best for me. On long hauls, I seldom even see anyone with backpacks.

I used the tank bag with the map on top with my 700 sx. It worked very well for me. I figure If I can't fit what I need in there I don't need it. For a 2-3 day trip I would strap on the rear bags and go. I have never tried a back pack, but as I'm getting into the mountain sledding, I think I would use one out there. Different places different applications maybe.

Me too....we do 4-5 days at a time. I can't imagine having that stuff on my back. I also use Swiss' setup. Works perfect!

i just use my dakine backpac, but i olny go on day trips with it... for long hauls i strap stuff on my machine
