Backup Beeper?

Spent the day working on my sled in the heated garage and went to back it out and noticed the beeper was not working. The sled was engaging into reverse, but no beeper. I got it out of the garage and tried the reverse again and it would hesitantly beep once or twice real quietly and then quit. Did I mess something up when I had the sled apart?

If you're getting partial beeps it's more than likely the switch on the reverse linkage. It's a manual switch that gets pressed in when you put it in reverse so either the switch is not making full contact or your not fully in reverse.

I've seen those switches freeze before so it may be you have a piece of ice or other crud in it.

I'll check that switch tomorrow. I'm almost positive the sled is fully engaging into reverse, as I set the linkage to spec at the beginning of the season. Thanks for the help!

Thought it was the switch that was the issue, but I must have partially pinched or disconnected the wires, because when I messed with the switch it started working and then later it quit altogether. Will have to investigate at a later time.

Update: Must be a wiring issue because when I mess with the switch and button itself the beeper works every now and again but sometimes makes a terribly annoying sound (even worse than just the regular beeper). I never thought I would miss the beeping sound, but the last thing I want to do is have the sled in reverse thinking it is in forward and mash the throttle and go flying into something.

Sorry, I posted some stuff about accidentally disconnecting the microswitch, but you were posting at the same time that indicated you already had that part figured out.

IOW, it turns out I had nothing to add, so I edited the post.

mine has done same thing for alongtime...sometimes it beeps,sometimes it does nothing,sometimes it makes a weird squelch...lol

its just the switch itself.....i honestly could care less,i always have my mp3 player cranked and cannot hear it anyway....its obvious when sled is in reverse with such an archaic lever...LOL
