Does anyone have one? I am looking into gettting a fuel controller because I want to pipe my RTX SE and do the schmidt bros air box mod. The barkers is cheaper than the PC5 but i wonder what the differences are. I think that the barkers is set up for the barkers slip on but I could be wrong. Any thoughts?

my plan is to put a cherry bomb on the sled. I realize there is no maps for that addition but I wonder what to do if im over reving or have any other problems

ahh fuel controller wont stop you from over reving,,, you will need to add or remove weights from your primary clutch to control rpm... clutch kits are expensive, i would play with the stock set up

I would suggest sticking with a PC5...much better support out there for it...more maps, better product, easier to sell down the road.

ok thanks. do you think a fuel controller is needed with the addition of a cherry bomb and the schmidt bros air box mod? I am scared to do both of these things at once because I know it will lean it out.

Hard to say really....there will be lean spots...personally I wouldn't use a cherry bomb...but that's just me. It's really hard to say how lean it will get....a member on here, Nytromaniac might be a guy to ask...he runs K&Ns and a Yoshimura bike exhaust and I don't think he runs a fuel controller...he's been fine.

i also have been thinking about the cherry bomb route. is way cheaper and i could mod it to fit, want to go under tunnel.
just my 2 cents but all the pipes for this thing are straight throughs, i no the hindle my buddy has is a straight through glass pack... so as long as your putting a straight through glass pack on there wont be much difference...(straight threw pipe, glass pack) besides the diameter there will be no difference..
the only way the pipe might act different is if theres baffles inside, which on a straight threw there is none.. cant tell me a straight threw cherry bumb glass pack 2 inch diamter is going to act different then any other..
you can look stright through the thing...
i hope you get what im saying.. same diamter same pipe in my mind.

im a mechanic and i know fuel injected vehicles will monitor air fuel ratios, fixing lean or rich conditions constantly.. i dont understand why a fuel injected yammi 4 stroke dosnt have the ability to adjust fuel ratios... the change from 0 to 5000 feet is huge and the computer is capable of monitoring this change and adjust accordinly,, why cant it adjust for less back pressure more air flow lean conditon.. this to me would be like the difference in riding from sea level to 5000 feet.. air is less dences and theres les oxygen per cubic meter at higher eleavtion.. meaning should run lean down low and rich up top..

There is no "air/fuel ratio" monitoring device on the FX Nytro or any Yamaha 4-stroke. It simply looks at the barometric pressure, air temp, and MAP sensor information and calculates the fuel curve based on those three items. It has no way of learning or knowing when you changed any intake or exhaust items.

So in other words I need to get a power commander regardless.

You will need a Power Commander or something similar to get extra fuel to the sled. The Power Commander is going to be the most adjustable to add or subtract fuel as needed.
