The optimate your yamaha dealer sells is by far the best one IMHO.
It can even repair damaged batterys and it is fully automatic.
If you have noticed that white plug by your battery extension cables by your oil tank, it plugs in there slick as a whistle. Something like $52.

There is supposed to be a plug already there?
I used my Deltran Battery tender, and had to gain access to the battery to install the leads...didn't know a connection was already there.

I have a Deltran that keeps my Harley, 4 wheeler and snowmobile batteries in top shape through the off seasons. I do remove them from the vehicles. My Harley battery lasted 7 years doing this. The 4 wheeler is a 97' and is still going strong.
