battery ?

how hard to replace?

There are places up here that fix them, I assume the someone in the states does something similar. Can't tell you who it is up here though, never had to have one done.

I'm not sure what the time needed is, but here's a shot from the manual. If you can see all the bolts on that cover after you take off the oil tank, I should think it should be pretty straight forward.

No one should attempt this repair unless you have mechanical experience! Very easy to mess things up during disassembly and install.Have done many times on 2-strokes, never on a 4-stroke, but heard horror stories. JMO.

I have lots of mechanical experience..have all summer to get it right!!thanks crew chief for the pic. I'll talk to my dealer's mechanic see if he thinks its something i can do. Either way I have to test to make sure this is the problem anyway!thanks guys

but i have a question..the battery is showing 13.something volts..but there are no lights coming on now..about a month ago when I went to start it it would turn over then stopped turning over..but the lights would come on and fan etc. now, i go over to the garage its at and nothing! so how am i to get the default code!!??

no offense, there is a reason so few people are good with electrical. I can tell reading your post that your not that guy. its not really something you can get walked through easily. I have a shop and see the unbelievable stuff people do everyday. I could live off the money people spend repairing by guess or by golly. reminds me the stator price shown is peanuts, sometimes they are 5 or 800

i just hate to take my machine to the dealer and pay $$$ for the past 5 years i've been doing my own work..but your correct i'm not the best with electrical..but its just a snowmobile!! haha

If you go to the Nytro FAQ section, there is a link to a download of the Service Manual. All the "how to's" and and specs and diagrams are there...I suggest you download it and read up on how to diagnose and rectify the problems you're having...much better than having everyone here to give their version, or taking pics, etc., and their interpretations of the manual.

Had a look at RM Stator and they have a troubleshooting flowchart to check the system:
http://www.rmstator.com/PDF/fault_finding.pdf

Here's my take on the OEM vs. rebuilt if you do need a replacement stator. If the original Yamaha unit failed so quickly, then why trust them and pay more? Although I have never used RM Stator before, I would give them a try at the lower cost. At least they have a reputation to protect. Word of mouth spreads quickly, whether it's good or bad. Yamaha doesn't care because they figure most people will just go for original parts and pay the premium price even though they are proven to be unreliable. The other factor is that RM Stator will rebuild your old stator so this takes more time than getting it from the dealer, which can be a factor during riding season.

In their flashing banner of different motorsports, the snowmobile is a Yamaha Venture Lite so I guess that is a good sign ;)!

I use rm stator all the time. its 150 and up to repair. have had several fail again, but usually talking spark. if the new one is less than 250, there seems to be no decision to make to me. I still stand by the fact that this guy has no clue and possibly the stator is fine. also when charging portion of stator is bad, alot of the time it has to do with running a bad battery or faulty regulator, or grips etc, which goes back to the not having a clue

yeah, your right..i dont have a clue but to tell you the truth that battery has died many times and i've boosted it many times..so I think what i'll do is start with a new battery and fix my grip warmer..because it had a cut in it. I'm not very good with electrical..slept that class away
