Hey everyone,
Have any of you heard of a bearing in an APEX engine failing. It is possibly one of two bearing part#'s 93306-27209-00 which goes on the end of the RPM reducer or the bearing on the other end of the reducer. Reducer assy part# is 8FP-11406-00-00.
My father owns this snowmobile and changed the oil this spring. When he dumped the waste oil out he found two pretty big pieces of metal in the bottom of the drain pan. He took them to a local dealer and they told him they though it was from a bearing. He then sent them to another dealer and they sent them to a Yamaha rep who said it was very likely they were from one of the bearings on the RPM Reducer.
Let me know if you've heard of this and what the outcome was.
Thanks

Seen one up in the UP, we did fine it until it had done its damage. From what I have read and see it comes from rolling the sled. The bearings just can't take the force of being up side down.

I don't think its from being upside down, bearings are round, thus circles, and have no upside upside down, the only way to damage a bearing is a side load on the bearing(unless its a taper roller bearing or similar) They are designed for a side load to work correctly.
